AL-HIKAM 36th STORY OF WISDOM

36th STORY OF WISDOM

"Opening the eyes of the heart shows the closeness of Allah to you. Witnessing the eyes of the heart shows your absence next to the form of Allah. The true eye witness of the heart shows you only God exists. Not your absence, nor your being."

This wisdom 36 explains the level of the servant in the process of wusul to Allah through the grace of God.

The first and lowest level is the servant who has اع البصيرة. Second, البصيرة. Third and this is the highest, البصيرة

What is meant by the first is the light of reason. That is, the servant can know the existence of Allah thanks to the help of his mind. In knowing Allah this reason cannot stand alone. He needs the help of science. Science and reason are intertwined, cannot be separated. Intellect will be stronger in the process of knowing God if it is accompanied by the support of deep knowledge. Likewise, this knowledge will be sharper if it is accompanied by reason that sharpens it every day. The two cannot be separated.

We will believe that God exists when accompanied by common sense fortified with strong knowledge. The role of reason and knowledge is not only needed in knowing the existence of God, but also in all other aspects of life. Verses that emphasize the importance of science:

"And We make these parables for mankind; And no one understands it except those who have knowledge.” QS. Al-Ankabuut 29:43

The warning verse follows something without scientific evidence:

"And do not follow what you have no knowledge of. Verily, hearing, sight and heart, all of which will be held accountable."   QS. Al Isra 17:36

Verses that motivate people to use their minds in all things:

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, the alternation of night and day, the ark that sailed in the sea brought what was useful for mankind, and what Allah sent down from the sky was water, and with it He gave life to the earth after it died (dry) and He spread in the earth every kind of animal, and the swaying of the winds and the controlled clouds between heaven and earth; Indeed (there are) signs (oneness and greatness of Allah) for a people who think." QS. Al Baqarah 2:164

Threats to those who do not use reason in seeking the truth:

"And verily We made for (the contents of Hell) most of the jinn and humans, they have hearts, but they do not use to understand (the signs of Allah) and they have eyes (but) they do not use to see (signs of Allah's power). , and they have ears (but) they do not use to hear (the verses of Allah). They are like cattle, they are even more misguided. They are the negligent ones.” QS. Al A'raaf 7:179

When we can use the light of reason in knowing God, the result is that we will feel God getting closer to us. Because our knowledge and reason come to know that God is one. Neither child nor begotten.

When this belief gets stronger, then we will continue to be motivated to obey and leave immorality, because Allah will surely see. The first model in the process of knowing and believing in God is called the scientific process. The process that is passed through reason and science.

The second model of servant is a servant who reaches Allah through البصيرة What does that mean? To explain it we sequence from the beginning first. Because the second level in knowing God is a continuation of the first process. It was mentioned earlier, when a servant knows and believes in Allah through reason and knowledge, he automatically gets closer to Him. He always tries to be in a state of obedience and not immorality. Gradually, this habit will continue to be a character. So that he will find satisfaction, enjoyment and peace with the God he has believed in. In this condition, he will shuhud/witness Allah. So that he considers himself mortal, melted in the majesty of God.

He no longer needs reason to know Allah, as he experienced when he was in the position of اع البصيرة. For him reason is no longer an important instrument. Because he feels more with his heart and is immersed in pleasure with Him. In the past, reason was needed to get rid of doubts and doubts about Allah. While in the condition of البصيرة it is no longer needed.

The difference between the servant in this second level compared to the first is that now he has witnessed Allah's blessing of istikamah in obedience. While the first he believed in God thanks to analysis through the media of reason and science. Or in other words, the first through the scientific process لمي. The second is through the amaliyah process لي

Therefore, the servant who is in the second rank does not see any entity in this world, except to lead him to be more confident in Allah. When he sees the stars, the sky, animals, and anything else, he automatically sees the majesty of Allah behind all that he sees. The thing to remember is that this second rank will not be obtained if you do not go through the first process, namely reason and science. Therefore, this second model servant considers himself non-existent, not physically absent, but he does not have any power in the process of living life, except for the help of Allah.

Lastly and this is the highest level, i.e. البصيرة People at this level see Allah with the true nature of view. Servants who are at this level are the highest level, because in their view there is only Allah. All the essence of the world and everything in it seems unreal to them. Even themselves. Everything is just a mirage. It is said to be the highest, because people at this level feel as if they have moved from the second level to the third level.

If the people in the second level feel that they are lost (fana'), then at this level they will be forced to exist (baqa'). Their lost selves must come back again, because they will meet and witness God firsthand. That God is present so near. They will never turn to anything other than Allah. The beauty of the contents of the earth, sky and everything other than Allah is only relative. If one day they interact with the people or nature around them, then it is the divine light that dominates their bodies. Their bodies could not be controlled by themselves, as if their minds and bodies were out of sync. Divine light has defeated the power of his reason.

Maybe this is what happened to people like al-Hallaj until he said "There is no one in my robe except Allah," ا الجُبَّة لاّ اللّه People like this actually believe that the existence of this world is real, but they feel themselves lost of this natural reality.

This is a high-level perspective. The perspective that is experienced by the Apostles, Prophets, Guardians, Rabbani and Siddiqun.

This is wisdom 36. Hopefully it will be useful and make us enthusiastic about embracing His grace. Amen ya Rabbal Alamin.

Peace be upon you, and Allah mercy and blessings
