al hikam wisdom 19

"Do not ask Allah to be transferred from one thing to another, because if Allah had willed, He would have transferred you, without changing your old state."

Kalam wisdom times teach us the meaning of focusing and accepting what God has given us, whatever it is. The simplicity of this word of wisdom is that we are forbidden to mencle, be fickle and easily tempted, aka not focus. If Allah has put us in a good position, then there is no need to ask to be moved to another position. With the assumption, if we move to another position, we will more easily get the opportunity to do good. Not a few, people who don't enjoy their position, then want to move to another position with the assumption that it will be better, even though in reality, when they move, they are not even better, but even worse than before. In the end, nothing was obtained. Similar to the ape philosophy. Taking new food is not obtained, the old is lost.

Al-Buthi gave an example of a medical student who wants to move to the sharia department. Because I want to have more opportunities to explore religion. Even though his motivation in the medical department is very noble, namely wanting to help those who are stricken with disease, he considers the sharia department to be more noble, because he can know religious knowledge, God's laws and can preach. This attitude is alluded to by the word of wisdom earlier. If Allah has chosen a good position, then do not ask to be moved, because Allah has the power to give us the opportunity to worship Him without having to move from that condition. Because, God has the power to give us the opportunity to do good to the community without having to move from the position that has been bestowed by Him.

It is very easy for Allah to make his beloved servant continue to have the opportunity to worship Him. Even though he is in the medical department, Allah has the power to make him a person who understands religious knowledge without having to move to the sharia department. This award will be given to those who have a strong desire to be useful to the community. Because of God's power, we are not justified in asking to be transferred from one thing to another.

Another example is a wife whose job is to be a housewife, take care of children, serve her husband, etc. Then he wanted to leave this activity because it was considered not to make a big contribution to the people. He just wants to do jihad / preach only, in order to get a great reward. Staying at home alone is considered unrewarding.

According to al-Buthi, this attitude is not right. If he fulfills this desire, it will not be a reward that he gets, but a sin. Because, God has the power to give him reward and glory without having to leave his household activities.

Al-Buthi then explains some of the main mistakes made by people who have this view:

People who have an attitude like the example above assume that the source of the reward is the material element/quantity/form of work. In fact, however, this is not the case. The reward is purely the gift of God's justice. Not because of our deeds. To reward and honor his servant, Allah does not see if he is a preacher, doctor, lecturer, etc. Da'i only have areas of da'wah, doctors treat, teaching lecturers. It is Allah who guides, heals and makes pious. However, because of Allah's justice and love for his servants, they are rewarded even though they are not the ones who heal, etc

That the forms of virtue in Islam are many and varied. Among the various virtues, none is superior to each other. No one deserves to be rewarded more. All the same. The virtues that humans do are superior to other virtues because of their sincere intentions. On the other hand, our power to attain all these virtues is very limited. While Islam recommends doing good. So, God's love has given us the position/opportunity/strength to do good according to our capacity. No need to be discouraged because our charity is trivial, no need to be sad because we can't reach all the good in the world. Allah has given us the strength to reach all of them according to our capacity and ability. The condition for all deeds is only one, sincere intention for the sake of Allah. Then Allah will reward and give glory to the doer.

To get the reward, to achieve virtue and to serve the people, you don't have to move from the position that God has given you. He remained in his position, but had a strong obsession to benefit the people through his position. Students majoring in medicine to be able to preach do not have to move to the department of da'wah. Students majoring in engineering do not have to move to the sharia department to be able to study religion. Stay in the position that has been given by Allah, but the intention to be useful and study religious knowledge is still burning. Because Allah is very powerful to make them smart in religious knowledge, smart in preaching, even though they are not on track.

Sincere intention!! Do not forget that the main point of all human actions is sincerity of intention. The intention in all our work is solely to seek the pleasure of Allah. The destruction of intentions is the root of the destruction of charity. The intention to gain worldly benefits is the main reason he does not get the grace and reward from Allah. Therefore, never look at the external aspects of our worship work. Look at the intentions that are embedded in our hearts. Jobs that can be seen with great rewards, such as jihad, if the mujahid's intentions are wrong, he will get nothing. A job that at first glance is trivial, such as cleaning a mosque, if it is done with sincere intentions, then has great rewards in the sight of Allah

The important thing that must not be forgotten, that the recommendation not to move from the position that has been given by God, is if it is within the scope of permissible/good work. But if it's from a bad job that is forbidden, then you must move . Leaving/moving from a job that is clearly prohibited by law is mandatory. So you can't argue with this wisdom.

In conclusion, that a Muslim needs to realize the wisdom of the position that Allah has given us. Accompanied by a strong obsession in the heart to always do good, do good deeds, be useful, according to their respective positions.

Wassalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
