Al Hikam Wisdom 23

  "لا تترقب فراغ الأغيار ، فإن ذلك يقطعك عن وجود المراقبة له، فيما هو مقيمك فيه"

"(doing charity) do not wait for the barrier to be empty, because that will break the muraqabah, even though Allah has placed you in it."

This life is filled with various obstacles, obstacles and which make neglect of the core purpose of life, namely totality in worship.

"Made beautiful in (the view of) humans the love of what they want, namely: women, children, wealth of many kinds of gold, silver, horses of choice, livestock and fields. That is the pleasure of living in this world, and with Allah is a good place to return (heaven).” (Surah Ali Imron: 14)

QS. Ali Imron: 14 explains it. That human life is decorated with pleasure in women, children, property and so on. only as a test from Allah. No matter how hard a person wants to free himself from the busyness that makes him negligent, as long as his feet are still standing in the world, he will not be able to. Because the busyness is God's tool to test humans. If it works, it will be rewarded, if not, it will be tormented.

A person cannot be separated from the busyness of the world, which Ibn Athaillah calls "الأغيار", even though he is still set foot in this world. So he should continue to live his life against the obstacles that exist, not even be lulled into the trap of seductive lust. This is what the Sufis termed "الخلوة الجلوة" 'seclusion (solitude) in the crowd' which means, Seclusion which is requested by Allah, does not require one to run away from his life, that to spend time alone in a cave. Allah commands us to live a life order that faces all obstacles and trials, if the obstacles do not control us, but how do we control the obstacles so that they do not hinder, but instead lead to a high degree in the sight of Allah. Once again, keep in mind, that the obstacles to reaching the presence of Allah are not to be avoided, but must be made intermediaries.

Many use busyness as an excuse for not being able to fully worship and waiting until retirement to become a devout Muslim. Until whenever humans will live that their respective activities, young to old, but that is no reason not to move on/silent without charity.

For example, someone who lives in the European/American hemisphere feels that the lifestyle there is not very supportive of being a devout Muslim. He felt he had no other choice but to wait until the situation allowed. Such a mindset can actually hinder. Why did it not occur to him to find a way to seek refuge in the presence of Allah that is muraqabah and ask for His help?

So how to find a way out of the complicated problems that suffocate almost every layer of this ummah? Is it really gone? The solution is to realize that waiting to be free from the busyness of the world is ignorance of the nature of life and an endless waiting. Because the busyness that can prevent a person from God exists and will always exist. However, its form varies depending on the situation and conditions. The busyness of people living in Europe will not run out just because they change their domicile to Asian countries, for example.

So once again, the solution is not that we run away from the busyness of the world. Because as long as we live, busyness is always there. Even the things that can prevent a person from reaching Allah are not limited to the visible things, such as the splendor of the world and its contents. Worse than that is the thoughts and premonitions that hang in the soul are also filled with things that result in neglect of Allah.

How not? when you imagine being in a magnificent house enjoying its beauty, instead of the simple house you have. So the shadows and thoughts that are so severe cause a person to forget from Allah. Again, serving other people who are busy looking for your flaws, bullying and criticizing you that agitation. You feel hurt that it is one of the things that is very time-consuming and makes you neglect what you should be doing, right?

So there is no other way to escape from the busyness that is the way to evacuate, pray and complain about the negligence of the soul and the weakness of the heart to God. It is appropriate that the message contained in the QS. Adz-Dzariyat: 50 who ordered to always run and flee to His friendship.

"So hurry back to (obey) Allah. Verily, I am a clear warner from Allah for you."

We see the companions of the Prophet, the da'wah of Islam has brought them to the bitterness of a world full of slander and extraordinary trials. So what protects them from falling into the chaotic world order? Why did the friends make it through? It was the attitude of trustworthiness and sincere resignation that made them survive and not be eroded by such a powerful current.

The story of Abdurrahman ad-Dakhil struggling to carry the mission of Islam in an area that is completely foreign to him, should be used as an uswah and role model. Of course, ad-Dakhil did not feel at ease that various concerns were changing, threats were lurking at any time in a new field of da'wah. But all of that soon disappeared with the power that led him to run to Allah. It doesn't matter that the original worry that enveloped the heart. So the meaning of running to Allah is taking shelter in His shade that prays and muraqabah in every movement and silence, sirri wal 'alan.

Thus Wisdom 23, learn from the Koran, the sunnah of the Nabawiyah, and the sirah of the Salaf scholars to make this wisdom a manhaj in life.
