al hikam wisdom 25

"You will not fail in the efforts that you rely on the gift of your Lord, and it will not be easy for the efforts that you rely on your own abilities."

Let's describe the meaning of the 25th wisdom above globally first.

There will be no failure in an effort that you rely on God's help, away from the presumption of your own abilities. While the efforts that you rely on the presumption of the power that is in yourself, will not be helped by Allah.

Perhaps while we are then the question arises: what and where is the basis of the 25th sentence of wisdom of Ibn Athaillah?

Obviously, the basis of Ibn Athaillah's 25th kalam wisdom is the word of God in the Koran and the hadith of guidance from the Prophet SAW.

Among other verses of the Koran:

O people, you are in need of Allah; and Allah is the Most Rich (no need for anything) and the Most Praised. (QS 35/15)

Of course, the nature of the needy which is based on this human being does not need only some things, but the needy/needs in total. So in silence and movement, eating and drinking, sleeping and waking, and all in all, humans need Allah. While the sentence taught by the Prophet that summarizes the entire explanation is: لاحول لاقوة لا الله

La haula wala quwwata illa billah , which means: there is no power and strength except with Allah

So everything that we strive for is not accomplished by our strength, but by the efforts and strength of Allah. This is the aqidah that we must believe, that humans can move, stay still, sleep, eat, worship, and others all because of the qudariat/power of Allah. The power possessed by humans is purely derived from God directly, not because of the power entrusted to humans. The picture is like a lamp that needs the flow of electric power, not like a robot that can move on its own with a battery in it.

Let's think about it, at certain times, we want to do something, but can't do it. People with stroke, for example, they want to move but can't. This is because the will to move is disconnected from Allah's qudariat, meaning that Allah does not want part of his body to move, so no matter how hard he tries, he will not be able to move.. Indeed, according to the medical there is a problem with the nerves. But in essence, he could not move because God's will was cut off from him. So once again, we must believe, that everything we do, everything depends on the power and will of God.

Then, what positive things can we get after we have such righteous beliefs? The fruit of that belief is that thus we will always be 'with' Allah, never separated from Him. That is, in our motion and silence, in all our activities, we will not be lost in the belief that we need God. We always believe that without Allah's help, we will not be able to do anything, even the easiest thing. When we work, trade, work, do social activities, politics, etc., everything will be accompanied by the belief that we need God's help. In all of that, we will always remember Allah. How come? While we believe that all will be useless without the power of God?

People like this, their hearts and circumstances will imply remembrance: O Lord, there is no power in me, I need You. Well, people who are in this situation, of course he will always be at peace, always in 'together' with Allah.

But after the explanation above, maybe some people are still strange, then deny the explanation above. Ah, cook like that? The proof is that I studied for years without relying on God, but still succeeded and got a diploma? Well, for such irregularities, Ibn Athaillah answered it from two sides.

First , what is meant by being hindered from God's "help" (taufiq) does not mean the interruption of God's will to help, but what is meant is, even though you are successful, without the taufiq of God's "help", success has no value. Without taufiq from Allah, success will not reach the true goal of learning that you have lived for years, as well as other endeavors besides studying, such as work, teaching, socializing, politics, statehood, and so on. Without the taufiq (help) of Allah, all efforts cannot reach their ultimate goal, and do not lead to true happiness.

Second , that the religious principles mentioned by Ibn Athaillah only apply to people who believe in Allah and practice Islamic law. As for those who disobey Allah and do not follow His Shari'a, of course it has nothing to do with "taufiq"/help from Allah. What applies to the disbelievers and to everyone who disbelieves in Allah is the word of Allah as

Let them (in this world) eat and have fun and be deprived of (empty) wishful thinking. later they will know (due to their actions)

or the word of Allah QS 3/97

Never be deceived by the freedom of the disbelievers in the country. It is only a temporary pleasure, then their abode is Hell; and Hell is the worst place.

So in conclusion, the 25th wisdom of Ibn Athaillah is part of Islamic etiquette, which only applies to Muslims, the faith of a Muslim is not perfect, until he is sure that all his steps occur because of the power of Allah. This belief must exist in every individual Muslim and Muslim community at the same time, in order to achieve true success, the world and the hereafter.

Thus Hukmah-25, may the benefits and blessings.

Wassalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
