al hikam wisdom 26
"A sign of a person's success at the end of his struggle, if he put his trust in Allah from the start of his struggle"
An important lesson to learn. We can learn many lessons from this wisdom. One of them is the importance of khusnul khatimah. Khusnul Khatimah / ending well in life is very important. Because, our fate in the hereafter will be determined by khusnul khatimah. Although the initial journey of his life was good, at the end of his life it was even worse, so in the hereafter he would not be lucky. On the other hand, even though at the beginning of his life he was depraved, but at the end of his life he even repented and khusnul khatimah, in the hereafter he will be lucky.
We are strongly encouraged to pray to be given khusnul khatimah. Our belief in the importance of khusnul khatimah is right, not wrong. There is a wrong assumption about this khusnul khatimah. That is, the opinion of people that about khusnul khatimah what will be said later. Don't take care of it now. In this youth, we just follow the flow of the wheel of life, enjoy it, don't be pretentious. Later in old age, we can repent. The popular saying, “Young spree, old rich, will die and go to heaven” Hemm… it's really nice to live like this.
Al-Buthi criticized this model's attitude to life. He said that this assumption was fatal and very dangerous. The end of a good life, according to him, is closely related to the journey of a good beginning of his life. The logic is this, a tree will grow and bear fruit well if it grows from a good initial process, is cared for properly, and so on. It is impossible for the tree to grow well, if the initial process is not correct. Left alone without treatment.
Likewise with human life, it is difficult to be khusnul khatimah if the journey of his life from the beginning is far from religion. However, if from the beginning he had feared Allah, at the end of his life the opportunity for khusnul khatimah was wide open. This is the meaning of the words of wisdom earlier. That, the sign of the person at the end will be successful, if from the beginning he surrenders himself to God. There are some people who oppose this understanding by tending to the hadith, the essence of the hadith is that there are people who from the beginning of their behavior are good, so it is as if the distance between themselves and heaven is only an inch but at the end of their lives they are su'ul khatimah. On the other hand, there are people whose behavior is bad, but at the end of their lives they are khusnul khatimah.
At first glance, this hadith contradicts the previous saying of wisdom which says that people with good behavior have the potential to be khusnul khatimah. This hadith also seems to contradict the following verse (Qur'an 18:30):
Because if you look at the understanding of the hadith, it is as if Allah has wasted the good deeds of his servant. So is it true? To understand this hadith, consider the following hadith;
The meaning of this second hadith; there are people who are famous in society as good people, but end up being residents of hell, on the other hand, there are people who are famous in society as bad/bad people, but end up being residents of heaven.
The key word that harmonizes the first and second hadith is (فيما ), which means "The Visible" which is well-known in the community. The final meaning is, that a person whose track record of life is well-known in the community but ultimately not khusnul khatimah is a person whose good work is not sincere because of Allah, is still self-sufficient and seeks human praise. Even though he always does good deeds, his intentions are still mixed with other intentions related to the world. Don't be surprised if at the end of his life this person is sometimes not even khusnul khatimah, dies in a state of disbelief. Naudzubilah.
People whose life track record is bad but ultimately khusnul khatimah are people who even though they do bad things always hope for Allah's forgiveness . Even though he actually commits a sin, he doesn't want to do it and is afraid of the punishment from Allah, but maybe he still can't get away from it. People who are like this model, even though their life journey is full of sin, at the end of their life they still have the potential to be khusnul khatimah. So, the stipulation remains, that Allah will not waste human good deeds, as long as the good deeds are sincere. And it is true what was in the wisdom at the beginning, that people who behave well have the potential to be khusnul khatimah, namely sincere good behavior.
The lesson that can be learned from the words of wisdom at the beginning is that we always maintain ethics to fellow servants of God . That is, if we see someone in a condition that is inherently immoral, don't necessarily curse at him. Do not easily judge yourself to be better, great and entitled to go to heaven than other people who are physically immoral. Because God has not given us the ability to know the future. We do not know how the end of the life of a person who is immoral will be. We also do not know how our own end of life will be. Is it khusnul khatimah or not.
It may be that people who we think are worse than us, later in their life will actually repent and be khusnul khatimah. It may also be that we who are very sure of khusnul khatimah, at the end of our lives will not even be khusnul khatimah. Our benchmark is, when you see someone who has sinned, reprimand him in the best way possible. Without having to think of ourselves as better than him. When we see a person who is spiritually pious, it does not necessarily cult him as if he has definitely entered heaven. If outwardly he is known as a good person, then we judge from what he looks like. While what is in that person's heart we do not know. That's God's business.
Humans judge a person from what is seen from the outward form. Allah sees man from what is in his heart.
Because we do not know the ending of the end of this life, we are encouraged to always pray to be given khusnul khatimah. It is important to remember, too, that this word of wisdom does not only apply to the riddle of the end of our lives. But it also applies to all aspects of our lives. In any case. Starting from academic issues, trade, politics, career, culture, etc.
The indication of success from the end of all the work is that in the initial process we have relied on God. If at the beginning of the process it has been submitted to Allah, the intention is to worship Allah, at the end of the process, God willing, it will be successful. On the other hand, if at the beginning of the work process it is not because of God, but because of the pragmatism of the world, this is a sign that he will not be successful. One of the processes of our work that is because of God is that when we first want to do something we are confused/indecisive. We pray to Him for help so that what he wants to do gets the blessing of Allah.
Islam recommends, if we are confused in doing something, whether it is good or not, we are encouraged to pray istikhara. The method is carried out 2 rak'ahs with the intention of praying istikhara. The first rakaat after reading the letter al-Fatihah read the letter al-Kafirun. The second rakaat after reading the letter al-Fatihah read the letter al-Ikhlash. After finishing the prayer then pray.
This is the sunnah prayer of Istikharah:
Such is the wisdom of this 26. May we always be protected by Allah and given the gift of husnul khatimah. Amen.
Wassalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
