Mahfudzot Class 1 KMI Gontor and his explanation (61-65)
It is not beauty with clothes that decorate us, but actually beauty is the beauty of knowledge and character.
The English proverb: " Don't judge a book by its cover ", means that we should not judge a book just by looking at the cover.
Likewise with our relationships with humans, we often judge people only from their outward appearance. We forget that the beauty that is within a person, namely the beauty produced by the existence of knowledge and good temperament, is far more valuable than the outward beauty that will fade over time.
The other side that we can draw from this Mahfuzhat is that knowledge must also be accompanied by good character.
This means that a lot of knowledge but not accompanied by good character is like a fruitless tree.
Do not be weak so that you will be blackmailed, and do not be so hard that you will be broken.
The meaning of this Mahfuzhat is that we must be balanced in all matters, we must avoid Ifrath (excessive) and Tafrith (too little).
In everyday life, we often see that there are people who are too rude to be hostile to many people, but there are also people who are too "soft" so that they become objects of bullying or being played with by the people around them. Therefore, in another Mahfuzhat it is also said "The best of things is the middle".
" Help your brother both when he is doing wrong and when he is being wronged ."
Then a friend asked:
"O Messenger of Allah, I understand that I must help people who are wronged, but what about helping people who do wrong?"
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) replied:
" You prevent him from doing wrong, then verily that is a form of help for him ." (Muttafaq 'Alaih)
Brother! You will not get knowledge, except with six things, I will tell the details clearly:
1). Intelligence
2). Greed ( towards knowledge)
3). Seriousness
4). Property (supplies)
5). Associating with the teacher (behave well)
6). long time
Because we are Mahfuzhat this is very clear, then it seems that there is no need to disyarah
Work makes the difficult easy.
The point is that often times something looks difficult before it is done, but when it is done it will become easy.
For example, there is someone who wants to build a business, in his mind the business he will build is a business that is very difficult to run, requires a lot of costs, intense competition, and so on.
But it turned out that after being undertaken, he also felt that the business was not as difficult as he first imagined.
Herein lies the key, that in a movement there is a blessing:
" Move, because actually in a movement there is a blessing ," was the advice that Kyai Syukri always repeated in Gontor first.
