The 46th Syarah of Wisdom – Syarah al-Hikam
46th STORY OF WISDOM
Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim
Assalamualaikum wr. wb
"Outward good deeds are triggered from kindness, while a good heart arises from self-confidence that is free (from the bad effects of lust)"
The meaning of "outward practices" here are worship activities that you do every day, such as prayer, fasting, zakat, hajj, alms and so on.
While the meaning of "kindness" is the inclination of your heart to God, such as the nature of submission and fear of God.
This wisdom explains the attachment between the outward member and the performance of your heart; that the two have integrated into each other. The work of the limbs usually arises because of the state of your heart. As clear as your heart is, the quality of charity that will be born will be as good as that. And vice versa: how dirty and tangled your heart is, then that's how bad the practice will be.
The more you feel as a person who is free and focused solely on God, the more you will feel the tenderness of His love. So important is the role of the heart, so that it can control body movements. As lovers and longing for God, we have a lot to learn.
Seeing the weak nature of human beings, there are three stages / psychological levels so that a person can reach (wushul) know Allah: namely REPENT, PATIENCE and RIDHA to Allah's destiny .
These three stages are interrelated and continuous, according to their respective sequences.
The first step is to repent. Repent of past sins and commit not to repeat them in the future. this is what is called " Repentance-Nashuha ".
Because the wall of sin can be the main obstacle for the heart to know God. Allah does not like people whose personality is not good. Indeed there is a kind of adage like this: "Man will not escape from mistakes and sins". That's right. But remember, the door of Allah's repentance is not closed.
Allah is pleased with the servant who repents of his sins. Allah is very pleased with the efforts of his servants to become a better person in the future. So repent of past sins, for this is better than sitting idle lamenting one's own faults.
The second step is to be patient . Be patient in the truest sense: both physically and mentally must be immune from the temptations of lust that plunges. This patience is related to the repentance earlier. Patience means in a positive sense. Be patient with the trials of Allah and the bad attitude of the people around him.
Why should patience be associated with positivity? Yes, because there is also patience which has a negative meaning. Such as vindictive patience and others. If you are patient with all of Allah's trials, it means that you have started to enter to be able to know Allah more.
Patience to endure trials from Allah will attract Allah's sympathy. Allah is very pleased with his patient servant. Innallaha ma'ash-Shabirin. Actually, there are various kinds of patience: strong and istikamah in worship is called patient. Strong to withstand the temptation of lust is actually also called patience.
The wisdom of the creation of man is clear: that God deliberately created you as a weak creature, so that you need God. Your nature is weak, but by relying only on Allah, your psychology will be strong. Your focus is Allah, the Lord of Nature.
The third stage is the willingness of the heart (pleased) on the certainty and will of Allah . This third stage is the most core than the previous one. It is said to be the most important because willingness / pleasure is your last ability when faced with an acute problem in your life.
Rida is the last attitude of humans if they don't want to give up on problems. Rida is not surrender or surrender. Rida is glory. Rida to Allah's destiny is not surrender, but it means noble. Like the heroic story of Sayidina Umar in the past.
Sayidina Umar said:
"I'm not avoiding Allah's destiny (in the form of the Thaun plague), but I want to move from Allah's destiny to another Allah's destiny".
So if you have repented, then patient on the way to Allah, then satisfied with all the provisions that Allah bestowed, then complete your stages of suluk towards Allah. The more you fall prostrate before Allah, the more He will pay attention.
There will be no sense of optimism let alone disappointment that will arise from your heart. Feeling calm, without any will to sue God. This is the meaning of the wisdom of Ibn Athaillah "Good deeds outwardly are triggered by kindness, while a good heart arises from self-confidence that is free (from the bad effects of lust)" . Take good care of your heart, because it is the core of the body
The more you focus your heart on Allah, the greater your love for Allah will be. How deep is your love for God? then that's how great God's love for you is. In the hadith it is stated: "I (Allah) depend on what my servant thinks of me" .
May our hearts be given the light of love towards Allah. Amen.
Wassalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
