Abdullah Bin Masud, a friend who received a special prayer from the Prophet
His full name is Abdullah bin Mas'ud bin Ghafil bin Habib al-Hudzali. He was the son of Umm Abd bint Abdu Wuddi bin Suwi from Bani Zuhroh. This friend who has a thin, short body and tan skin is known as a person who is gentle, intelligent, and neat in clothes and has a fragrant body odor. One time he climbed a tree and saw his calves, then his friends laughed, but the Prophet Muhammad said, those two calves are heavier in scale on the Day of Resurrection than the mountain of Uhud.
The figure who emigrated with the Messenger of Allah, both when he went to Habasyah and to Medina, was very close to the family of the Prophet. It was he who prepared the Prophet's personal belongings. when traveling, such as pillows, siwak, sandals and water for purification. He was even the one who put the Prophet's sandals on when he was leaving, then walked behind the Prophet and who took off his sandals when he arrived, then put the Prophet's sandals into his arm to be stored, and gave the Prophet a stick when he entered his room. No wonder he was nicknamed the shohib of the pillow, siwak and the two sandals of the prophet.
This friend is also known for his melodious voice when reading the Qur'an. He was the first to read the Qur'an aloud after the Messenger of Allah in Mecca. He said, "I learned the Qur'an from the prophet 70 letters directly and no verse was revealed unless I know where it was revealed".
Abdullah bin Umar once narrated that the Messenger of Allah. once said: learn the Qur'an from these 4 people, Abdullah bin Mas'ud, Ubay bin Ka'ab, Muadz bin Jabal, and Salim Maula Abu Hudzaifah".
Because Abdullah bin Mas'ud was so fluent in reading the Qur'an, his reading was recognized by the Messenger of Allah. as recitation of the Qur'an as well as when it descends. He also told me that when he studied the Qur'an with the Prophet, he would not add material to his study of the Qur'an before he mastered the 10 verses and their meanings. This shows that he places great emphasis on the quality of learning, rather than quantity.
Umar once wrote a letter to the people of Kufa: “Indeed, I sent you Ammar as emir, and Abdullah bin Mas'ud as teacher and minister, they were pious people from the companions of the Prophet. and is one of the companions who joined the battle of Badr, so listen and follow their orders.”
He was one of the friends who had received a special prayer from the prophet who once rubbed his head while praying "may Allah have mercy on you, you really are a young teacher. Abdullah bin Mas'ud breathed his last at the age of 63 in Medina, and the process of praying his body was led by Zubair bin Awwam according to his last request before his death, and was buried in Baqi' in 32 H.
