al wisdom 51: fold your good deeds, leave it to Him

51st WISDOM OF WISDOM

أَنْتَ حُرٌّ مِمَّا أَنْتَ عَنْهُ آيِسٌ وَ عَبْدٌ لِمَا أَنْتَ لَهُ طَامِعٌ

“ You are free from anything you don't want. And become a slave to something you wished for. ”

"There is no good deed that is more expected to be accepted by Allah than a deed whose existence has been forgotten by you and in your view it looks small or insignificant."

Alright, let's follow, this wisdom will teach us about any charity that has the potential to be accepted/unaccepted by Allah.

First of all, we need to know that as ordinary people we do not have any power to always do good / leave immorality. In general, this word of wisdom informs that good deeds that have the potential to be accepted by Allah are trivial ones and are no longer being ignored.

When we are in a state of doing good / leaving disobedience then it is only help and taufiq from Allah. Because we don't have any power, when Allah predestined us with goodness, the wise attitude we have to do is be grateful.

On the other hand, if Allah does not provide help and taufiq to us, then our steps will be controlled by worldly desires and interests. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Apostle always encourages us to always say Laa hawlawalaa quwwata illaa billaah. The meaning of dhikr taught by the Apostle further emphasizes that in obeying / leaving immorality everything is because of God's help.

God created man in a weak, helpless and powerless condition. Including in rejecting Satan's invitation to sin, the impact of the creation of lust and Satan's temptations against us is that our good deeds are difficult to be truly pure because of Allah.

Sometimes when we do good/worship we already consider it perfect and flawless, not knowing Satan sneaks into the charity. When actually the good deeds are still mixed with mere lust/worldly interests, it is certainly difficult to be accepted by Allah.

When we know this reality, when we finish doing good, we should be anxious and aware of the impurity of that good deed. At the time of worship, for example, we are not proud of ourselves that charity is produced because of our strength. In fact, it is all from Allah alone.

That's why the Messenger of Allah taught us to pray to always be given the strength to do good which means, "O Allah, help me to always remember, be grateful and worship You well."

The pious servants of Allah, when worshiping he does not really care whether the charity is accepted or not. They are not busy with that. In fact, when they do good or worship, they are busy being grateful because Allah has given them the opportunity to do good.

They do not really care whether their deeds are accepted or not, because it is not impossible that their good deeds are still mixed with the lusts/temptations of Satan. This is where the momentum of the word of wisdom is, the more the good deeds are ignored, the truer the potential to be accepted by Him is the more open.

Conversely, when we finish doing good we are still busy with the charity, the potential for not being accepted is increasingly open. The pious scholars have exemplified this, when they worship, they do not rely on their worship because they believe that it is accepted by Allah. They are actually worried that the deeds of worship will not be accepted by Him, because they are worried about being mixed with lust such as pride, riya, etc.

The companions of the Prophet have also exemplified this. Even if some of them are guaranteed to enter heaven, such as Caliph Umar bin Khattab. When he met a small child, he kissed his hand and asked for prayer. "Pray for me, because you are still innocent," he said.

Umar's attitude should be an example for us to never rely on any good deeds. It is enough that we always ask to be given the strength to do good and worship Him. After that, give thanks and trust in Him.
