Habib Ali al-Jufri on Religion and the State: Those Who Contradict The Two Don't Understand Religion

Habib Ali Zainal Abidin al-Jufri doubts the understanding of people who oppose defending religion and the state. According to him, people like this are people who do not understand religion and do not understand their homeland.

"Anyone who thinks there is a contradiction between loyalty to religion and loyalty to the homeland, then he does not understand religion and does not understand the country," said Habib Ali when he was a speaker at the International Seminar and Multaqa organized by the Education Cadre of Ulama (PKU) Masjidi Istiqlal and the Foreign Relations Commission of the Indonesian Ulema Council , Wednesday(24/8/2022).

Habib Ali al-Jufri is currently visiting Indonesia. This Jeddah-born Habib was present on various occasions and gave various soothing tausiyah.

Habib Ali is known as a very inclusive habib. The various tausiyah delivered often make the listeners realize that Islam is very friendly and not scary, even very concerned with human values. Habib Ali even wrote a special book which was translated into Indonesian with the title  "Humanity before Religion".

This 51-year-old Habib in his tausiyah also reminded the military who attended the event to be introspective and careful, not to be dragged into the vortex of conflict.

“When we talk about the military, we are talking about institutions unrelated to the regime, which can come and go. And I remind you, what is happening in our country is the problem with dragging the military into conflict," said Habib Ali Jufri in his reflection on his country.

Habib Ali also invited the scholars to continue to preach with three noble principles, namely humility, mercy, and love for anyone. Habib, who studied at Tarim, Hadramaut, also clarified that so far he had not defended kufr and immorality. In fact, he emphasized that he was very anti-kufr and disobedience. However, he does not hate people who disbelieve and do sinners.

"I am anti-kufr, I am anti-immorality, but I have never hated infidels and immoral people," said Habib humbly.
