Habib Luthfi: Pilgrimage to Parents' Graves Forms Lifelong Child Devotion

Pilgrimage is a tradition that is so close in the life of the people of the archipelago. Even today, pilgrimages to the graves of parents, guardians, pious people and heroes have become a tradition that is in great demand by Indonesian Muslims.

On every occasion, Habib Luthfi bin Yahya repeatedly said, it is not appropriate for a child to go all the way to visit the graves of awliya' but he never visited the graves of his own parents.

According to Habib Luthfi, going to the graves of our parents invites us to become human beings who are good at being grateful for the services of our parents. According to him, people who have a sense of gratitude to their parents will increase their faith.

Rais Aam Jam'iyyah Ahlith Tariqal al-Mu'tabarah an-Nahdliyah also invites people to reflect on the struggles of parents who have gone to great lengths to educate, care for, provide for , and raise their children.

What is very important to ponder is the magnitude of the struggle of parents, especially those who lived in the past, the colonial era and the independence of our nation. In the midst of life's difficulties, economic disparities, and colonial pressures, old people in the past were willing to fight for independence.

Therefore, according to him, when a child visits the grave and prays for his parents who have left the world, it will be recorded as good deeds.

“When you visit your parents' graves what is the first thing you do. Yasinan bib, tahlilan, or praying. Yes, that's good, but that's not what was meant, "explained Habib Luthfi.

"Before starting to read the prayers earlier, sit beside his grave while conveying a feeling, 'Sir, ma'am, panjenengan sampun sowan (you have met) into the presence of Allah Ta'ala, I sincerely apologize that your son has not been able to make you happy." , in fact your child is always troublesome, makes you sad, "said Habib Lutfi.

Habib Luthfi also urged to always pray for His Majesty the Prophet Muhammad Shallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam . Because the reward of blessings is not only for oneself, but parents are also the rewards of blessings that are read by their children.

"There is a strong hadith narration recorded in the book Sa'adatut Darain . There is an Angel guarding the tomb of Prophet Muhammad. Every time the Angel receives blessings from all of the people of the Prophet and he is also in charge of conveying every blessing to the Messenger of Allah," said Habib Luthfi.

"The great thing is, the way the angel conveys the prayers of the people, not only by mentioning his name, but ' Salata so and so bin fulan Ya Rasulallah ' which means including the name of the parents of the prayer-reader." Habib Lutfi continued.

From some of these explanations, it can be understood that reciting every shalawat also causes the descent of mercy to both parents from the practitioner.

Therefore, as a child as long as he is given the opportunity, he should always strive to be devoted to his parents. If the elderly have died, then what needs to be done is to increase prayers, prayers, recitation of the holy verses of the Quran as a transfer of charity, as well as visiting their graves.

Various hadith narrations have explained that the pilgrimage to the tomb of parents has extraordinary virtues. On this priority, as-Subki suggested, no matter how difficult a child's journey to visit the graves of his parents, it must still be taken.

According to Imam As-Subki, pilgrimage to fulfill the obligation is equivalent to visiting the graves of both parents. Attempting to travel for this purpose is highly recommended as a form of fulfilling obligations. (Book of Tuhfatul Habib alal Khatib )

Wallahu a'lam.
