History of the Miracle of Ashabul Kahfi

(Part-2)

Days passed, months and years went by as they slept. All the townspeople were talking about them. They did not know the fate of the seven youths who suddenly disappeared even though they only said they wanted to hunt.

Over time, the story of the seven young men disappeared and only became history as lost young men.

Wake up from a long sleep

Unexpectedly, the seven young men slept for three centuries. They were awakened by Kotmirun, their guard dog suddenly barking. To them, it felt like they had slept all day because when they woke up the sun was about to set. They do not understand and there is still a debate between them about how long they slept.

The next morning, feeling hungry, they wanted to buy some food. One of them then took out some gold coins to buy food. One of them is also willing to go to the city to buy food. The young man immediately left the cave and went down the mountain. He did not see the natural scenery that changed significantly while on the way to the city. True, they still don't understand, how long they've been asleep.

Arriving at the market, the young man was surprised and confused. He said the city had changed and he had the wrong destination. People were also surprised to see the appearance of the young man's clothes. The young man was wearing old-fashioned clothes even though all of them were wearing new-style clothes. Everything is very different and indeed has changed. It's just that the young man didn't realize it.

Revealed

Until when he finished choosing and was about to pay for the food he bought, the food seller was surprised by the young man's payment of gold coins. The seller said it was the ancient money of the Trojan Emperor. He also suspected, the young man had found a treasure of centuries ago that began to disappear. The seller wanted the young man's coin and promised not to tell anyone.

The young man still did not understand what the food seller meant. So the seller issued some coins that were valid at that time. Because he still feels that he is not the finder of the treasure and the coins that he owns, the young man simply says that he has nothing but the coins. Suddenly the seller grabbed the young man's hand and shouted which made everyone gather.

The young man was frightened and shouted not to surrender to the Trojans. It made people laugh. Yes, the Trojan died many years ago. This country is now under the rule of Emperor Thiodosius. Caesar was a good person and a few days ago had embraced the religion taught by Jesus.

An elderly person knew the story of the young man from his grandmother's story. When he spoke of the young man and his friends, he almost fainted and fell to the ground. News of the youths who had fallen asleep long ago spread like lightning. The governor heard it and immediately ordered his guards to pick up and bring the young man to the palace.

When they arrived at the palace, the Governor asked their story and was about to pick up his friends who were still in hiding. Immediately, the young man with the Governor who was followed by several troops headed for the hiding cave. One of the youth's friends was worried for his friend's safety. So he came out of the cave and climbed the mountain. He was surprised to see a convoy of soldiers heading to their hiding place. He immediately ran to his friends.

He told what he saw at the top of the mountain. They feel uneasy. Anxiety, worry and all fear mixed into one. Suddenly they were surprised by the arrival of his friend who then told the truth about how long they had been asleep. The young man begged to enter the cave alone without anyone accompanying him. His request was granted by the Governor and he entered himself.

The young man immediately entered the cave and told the incident he had experienced. The youths in the cave wept bitterly knowing the truth of the story about the length of their sleep. They cry out of fear and longing for Allah. They begged Allah to kill them because they belonged to the past. Allah granted their request. At that time the seven young men and their dog had died.

Meanwhile, the Governor and his troops who were waiting outside the cave were still patiently waiting for the youths to come out. However, after a long absence, they finally decided to enter the cave. They saw an amazing sight in the cave. They saw the youths and their dogs had died. They also prostrate to the event of the extraordinary power of Allah. With their eyes, through Ashabul Kahf , they understand the greatness of Allah.
