Location and name
The location of the lodge is approximately four hundred meters south of the capital city of Widang District, or approximately 30 km south of the capital city of Tuban Regency , also bordering Babat Village , Babat District , Lamongan Regency with a distance of about one kilometer. With this strategic location, the Langitan Islamic Boarding School is easy to reach via public transportation, either by bus, train, or other means. The name Langitan is a change from the word Plangitan, a combination of the word plank ( Javanese ) meaning nameplate and wetan .(Javanese) which means east. Indeed, around the Widang area in the past, when the Langitan Islamic Boarding School was founded, two signposts or nameplates were erected, one each located in the east and west. Then near the sign next to the wetan, an educational institution was built, which later because of the custom of the visitors to make the sign wetan as a sign to make it easier for people to register and visit the boarding school, then naturally this boarding school was named Plangitan and later popularly became Langitan. The truth of the word Plangitan was confirmed by a stamp bearing the word Plangitan in Arabic and Malay letters written in the book " Fathul Mu'in " which was finished by KH. Ahmad Sholeh, on Tuesday 29 Robiul Akhir 1297 Hijriyah .
