Mother's blessing, Sulaim bin Ayyub ar-Razi is given ease and success in learning

Mother, the wingless angel who is present in the middle of all our lives. A mother has her own sacredness for her children. The sacrament applies to all human beings, whether their behavior is praiseworthy or reprehensible. And one of the sanctities of a mother is through her prayers.

Because, his prayers are able to bring blessings to the lives of his children. Therefore, if we still have a mother, ask her to pray for us every day.

One proof of the blessing of a mother's prayer was experienced by a scholar named Sulaim bin Ayyub ar-Razi. As explained by Imam Adz-Dzahabi in his book as-Siyar , that when Sulaim ar-Razi was a child, he was about ten years old. He went to study with some of his teachers in Rayy's area.

While studying with his teacher, Sulaim ar-Razi was told to go forward by the teacher. To Sulaim ar-Razi, the teacher said, " Go ahead, and try to read the Qur'an. " "

When asked by the teacher to read the Qur'an, it turned out that Sulaim ar-Razi was unable to read it. His mouth stuttered as he wanted to recite the holy verses of the Qur'an. Even so, he still tried his best and still couldn't. His mouth felt stiff, and he was unable to read the Qur'an.

Seeing Sulaim ar-Razi who had great difficulty in reading the Qur'an, despite having tried his best. The teacher asked him, " Do you have a mother? "

Sulaim ar-Razi replied, " Yes, still. "

The teacher then said, " In that case, ask your mother to pray to Allah swt so that you can read the Quran and be good at religious knowledge. "

Upon receiving such an order, Sulaim ar-Razi replied, " Yes, I will convey it. " "

Sulaim ar-Razi then returned home and met his mother. To the mother, he asked to be prayed for. Having received a request from her son, the mother prayed to Allah swt that her son would be given facilities in learning.

Time went on, until Sulaim ar-Razi reached adulthood. At the age of adulthood, Sulaim ar-Razi again traveled to study. This time he chose Baghdad as his destination to study and gain knowledge. In this city, he studied Arabic and Fiqh.

After finishing traveling to study, Sulaim ar-Razi returned to his hometown in the city of Rayy. Until one day, he was copying the book of Muhtashar al-Muzanni in the Jami' mosque. Incidentally, at that time his teacher came who had told him to ask for his mother's prayer when he was having trouble studying

The teacher also came while greeting Sulaim ar-Razi, but the teacher did not recognize him anymore. At that time Sulaim ar-Razi was reading the book he was copying, but his teacher who was also listening did not understand what Sulaim ar-Razi was reading.

The teacher then asked, “ When can this kind of knowledge be learned? "

Seeing his teacher saying that, Sulaim ar-Razi wanted to say, " If you have a mother, ask her to pray for you. However, Sulaim ar-Razi chose to remain silent. He was embarrassed to say that to his childhood teacher. Because the teacher knows more about how to become like that.

A mother's prayer is a prayer that is very powerful and can penetrate the sky. Therefore, never hurt a mother's heart. And never tire of being devoted to both parents, and always ask to be prayed for every day. Because, the prayer offered by a mother has an incomparable blessing and sacredness.

In addition to the efficacious mother's prayer, the story of Sulaim ar-Razi above teaches about the manners of a knowledgeable person. As once said by Prof. Quraish Shihab said, " There is ethics in science. Don't answer a question even if you know the answer, if someone is smarter than you. "

What Sulaim ar-Razi did when asked by his teacher, who no longer remembers it, about how to understand the book of Muhtashar al-Muzani is a complete character of a knowledgeable person. Even though he knew the answer to the question, he chose not to. Because in truth, the teacher knows the answer better.
