Nabi Ayyub A.S.

Nabi Ayyub A.S.

Prophet Ayyub AS, son of Ish bin Ishaq bin Ibrahim AS He was a very rich prophet, had various livestock, such as: cows, goats, horses, donkeys, camels, and so on.

He is a kind-hearted person, likes to spend his wealth to help the poor, orphans, honor guests and so on, his wealth does not neglect his worship of Allah SWT. The abundant wealth does not cause him to become arrogant and forget the poor people. Although he is a rich man, his life is not extravagant, in fact, the richer he gets, the more obedient he is to Allah SWT.

With a lot of wealth and a lot of descendants, he did not lose his spirit to worship and bow down to Allah Swt.

Everyone who has faith and is obedient to worship, Satan always tries to tempt him. The same is the case with the Prophet Ayyub AS. With various methods and tricks, the shaytan tried to persuade him by seducing him and with his powerful weapons, so that Ayyub could shift from his faith and from his worship.

God's trial to Prophet Ayyub AS

First, his possessions ran out, so that Ayyub, who was once rich, gradually became poor. This does not shake his faith, because he always remembers that all humans are born into the world without anything, then God gives them sustenance and it is God who gives wealth. And to God the property returns, that is, it is God who takes back the property.

From this ordeal, Job passed. He did not shift his faith and worship to Allah in the slightest. Then Allah tested him again, his many children, now many are dead, from time to time the trials and tests continue.

This ordeal did not affect the Prophet Ayyub, he remembered that man originally came from Allah, then returned to Him, including himself will return to Him.

The ordeal was accepted by Ayyub patiently, then the devil tried his best to shake Prophet Ayyub's faith. And God tested him by giving him a terrible disease, an incurable disease, so that Ayyub's appearance changed and he looked very old. but he remained calm and patient, never complained because of his illness, and all the worship he did as before his illness he did with more reverence.

Satan was desperate, because in any way could not tempt Ayyub, no matter how sick he was, his faith did not shift one bit. So the shaytan looks for another way by deceiving his wife, so as to keep her husband less.

One day Ayyub's wife refused to serve her husband. Ayyub became angry with his wife by saying: "If I recover I will surely hit a hundred times". and Prophet Ayyub prayed to Allah SWT as stated in the Qur'an.

"Remember when Ayyub called out to his Lord: "O my Lord, I have sickness and trials caused by Satan" (QS. Shaad verse 41 ).

God granted Ayyub's prayer, and Ayyub recovered from his illness, and his wealth returned to normal, as well as his family as healthy as before.

God showed the faith of Prophet Ayyub AS that did not waver even in the face of calamities and trials, until the devil became defeated and powerless. When Prophet Ayyub prayed for healing, God said as written in the Qur'an:

"Strike (tread hard) your feet on the earth, a spring of cold water will spring up there, then take a bath and drink, and the disease will be cured" (QS. Shaad verse 42).

After the Prophet Ayyub recovered from his illness, then the Prophet Ayyub wanted to carry out his promise to hit his wife a hundred times, then it was allowed by Allah as He said in the Qur'an:

" Take a piece of wood with your hand, then beat your wife with it, then you will not break your oath. Indeed, We found Ayyub to be a patient person, he is the best servant and repents a lot to Allah SWT." (QS. Shaad verse 44).

Thus, Prophet Ayyub did not hit his wife a hundred times, but the hundred sticks were made into a bundle and hit only once, to fulfill his promise while he was still sick.

Ayyub's wife is a pious woman, she does something not because of her bad habits, but because she was tempted by Satan, and God is Most Forgiving and Most Merciful.

Not long after, Prophet Ayyub had many children, including a boy named Bashir who was nicknamed Dzulkifli who eventually became a prophet.
