Nabi Syu’aib A.S

Prophet Shu'aib is still a descendant of Prophet Luth AS, from his daughter's side. He was sent to the state of Madyan, near the border of the state of Sham (now Palestine). The people of this country have long abandoned the teachings of the previous prophets, forgetting to practice the religious commandments.

Because of this, the Prophet Shu'aib AS, was sent by Allah SWT to call on them to worship Allah and not to commit crimes, in the form of theft, fraud, and deceiving in terms of weighing, measuring, and so on.

The words of Allah SWT, in the Qur'an as follows:

" And to Madyan (We sent) their brother Shu'aib. He said: O my people! Worship Allah, for you have no god but Him. Verily, a proof has come to you from your Lord. Therefore, suffice the measure and scales, and do not deprive people of their rights, and do not wreak havoc on the earth after it is finished. That is good for you if you are believers". ( QS al-A'raf, verse 85).

The call of Prophet Shu'aib AS to his people, was not heeded in the slightest, in fact they thought that they themselves were right, while Prophet Shu'ab was considered a person who caused chaos and commotion.

But Prophet Syu'aib did not give up hope, in fact he continued to teach and educate them even more enthusiastically. The call of Prophet Shu'aib was strongly opposed by them, saying: "Try to send that punishment down to us right now, if you are true in your words".

Their request was directly granted by God, with the torment of scorching hot air, as stated in the Qur'an:

"For that reason, they were struck by lightning and earthquakes, and they became the people who drowned in their places of residence" . ( QS al-A'raf, verse 91).

Thus the torment of God directly befell them, so Prophet Shu'aib and the believers migrated to another country, namely the land of Aikah, a village not far from Madyan.

When he was about to migrate, he gave a message to his people, as Allah SWT said in the Qur'an:

"Then he turned away from them: "O my people! indeed I have conveyed to you the verses of my Lord and I have given you advice. Therefore, how can I grieve over the disbelievers". (QS al-A'raf, verse 93).

Prophet Shu'aib migrated to Aikah:

Prophet Shu'aib migrated to Aikah, which is a village not far from Madyan. In this country, the condition of the people is no different from the people of Madyan, they also rebel and disobey God.

Prophet Shu'aib never gets tired of calling them to invite them to worship Allah SWT, the God who created this world. Prophet Shu'aib explained to them the torment that will befall those who disobey God, and if you follow this call, it will benefit you. they strongly opposed the Prophet Shu'aib, then came punishment from God, as Allah SWT says in the Qur'an, as follows:

"In short, they lied to him, then a scorching hot punishment befell them. Verily, it is the punishment of a great day. (QS Ash-Syu'ara, verse 189).
