Prophet Idris AS

Prophet Idris AS

Prophet Idris AS was the one who sent down the father of Prophet Noah AS, and he was the first to be good at writing with a kalam (pen), also good at reading and knowing astrology, arithmetic, good at sewing, and horsemanship and fighting the disobedient.

It was to him that Allah (swt) sent down 30 shahifahs which contained instructions from Him to be conveyed to his people, namely the descendants of Qabil who were disobedient to Allah (swt).

He studied a lot of the books that Allah revealed to Adam and the Prophet Syits. He was the first to be good at cutting and sewing clothes, because before him humans wore animal skins.

He has extraordinary strength, so he received the title "Asadul usud", which means "tiger of all tigers". This title was given because Prophet Idris dared to fight those who disobeyed Allah.

He always remembers Allah, and God has given him a high degree, as Allah says:

وَ اذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتابِ إِدْريسَ إِنَّهُ كانَ صِدِّيقاً نَبِيًّا َوَ رَفَعْناهُ مَكاناً عَلِيًّا

It means:

"And remember you (about) Idris mentioned in the book, verily he is someone who is very true, a prophet. And we have placed him in a high place.” (Surah Maryam, verses 56-57) .

According to some commentators, when it was opened for Idris to get acquainted with angels, Prophet Idris had a desire to see the unseen world, then Prophet Idris's wish was fulfilled, so Prophet Idris ascended to the fourth heaven and some scholars said to the sixth sky.

In a hadith narrated by Bukhari, and Anas bin Malik it is stated: "When the Prophet Muhammad, and Jibril were passing somewhere on the night of Isra' and Mi'raj, he met Prophet Idris and said: Welcome to the pious Prophet and pious brothers. . Then asked the Prophet Muhammad, to him: "Who is this? Jibril replied: this is Idris he is in the Qur'an there is:

"And (remember) Ismail, Idris, and Dhul Khifli, all (them) of the patient people. And We included them in Our mercy, for verily they are of the righteous (Surah al-Anbiya, verses 85-86)
