Meanwhile, the establishment of the Al Mukmin Islamic Boarding School started from the existence of recitation activities after noon at the Great Mosque of Solo. The preachers and preachers then developed this form of recitation by establishing a madrasah diniyah at Jalan Gading Kidul 72 A Solo. The development of this madrasa was quite rapid because some of them were supported by the mass media, namely Radio Da'wah Islam (Radis) Solo at that time.
The exciting dynamics of the madrasa inspired the missionaries to initiate by boarding the students into a container in the form of an Islamic boarding school educational institution.
Occupying Waqf Land
The social reality of the Solo community after 1965 and the emergence of various threats that were considered dangerous to the existence of Islam and its people at that time, further motivated the spirit of missionaries throughout Solo to immediately realize Islamic boarding school education.
This intention is based on historical perspectives and considerations that pesantren in ancient times had a very big role and role in defending, fighting for, and defending the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
On March 10, 1972, the Al Mukmin Islamic Boarding School Education Institution was established at Jalan Gading Kidul No. 72 A Solo, under the auspices of the Al-Mukmin Islamic Education and Orphanage Foundation (YPIA) with a Notary deed no. 130 b 1967. At that time the number of students who were in the dormitory were 30 students, including 10 students from the YPIA Orphanage.
Along with the rapid development of students with limited facilities and infrastructure, the next two years, in 1974, the management of the Al Mukmin/Poor Orphans Education and Care Foundation (YPIA) moved the location of the madrasa to Hamlet Ngruki, Cemani, occupying the waqf land owned by KH. Abu Amar. Since then, this pesantren has come to be known as the Al Mukmin Ngruki Islamic Boarding School.
