The 54th Syarah of Wisdom – Syarah al-Hikam

 

54th WISDOM OF WISDOM

٭ رُبَّمَا كُنْتَ مُسِيـْءـاً فأراكَ الاِحْساَنَ مِنْكَ صُحْبَتَكَ كمن هُوَ اَسْوَءُ حالاًمِنْكَ ٭

"Sometimes you make mistakes [sins], then it is shown to you as goodness, because of your friendship with people who are far lower in character [Faith] than you."

Shaykh Ibnu 'Athā'illah said:

خَفْ مِنْ وُجُوْدِ إِحْسَانِهِ إِلَيْكَ وَ دَوَامِ إِسَاءَتِكَ مَعَهُ أَنْ يَكُوْنَ ذلِكَ اسْتِدْرَاجًا لَكَ..

" Be afraid if you always achieve God's goodness even though you continue to disobey Him, it could be, gradually it will destroy you. ”

Making friends with those of lower character [faith], is very dangerous, because friendship is an influence, trust and believe, so that it is very difficult to see or correct the mistakes of friends we love, even the loyalty of friends will defend us in mistakes, guilt and sin, by which you will surely perish. While a person cannot correct himself, except through the eyes of others, but if the eyes of others deceive us, then danger will surely befall us.

Being friends with those of lower character [faith], is very belidas, because big friends are influencers, perjaya trust, segu with mehali it is very difficult to be able to see or correct the behavior of friends we love and sin, by which you will surely perish. While most people cannot correct themselves, they are confused with other people's opinions, but if other people's judgments also deceive us, then danger will surely befall us.
