The 59th Syarah of Wisdom – Syarah al-Hikam

Al-Hikam Article 59: The size of the sin

"Do not magnify sin (with a) greatness (certain) on your side, (so much so as to) prevent you from having a good opinion of Allah Ta'ala; because whoever knows his Lord , then he will consider his sin small in the face of His glory. "

Lectures

It's about something on our side. What is on our side, can be good deeds, can be bad deeds. What is on the side of creatures, is brought to the side of Allah. If what is on our side, then we exaggerate it, it becomes not seeing Allah as the Most Forgiving Essence.

Our little knowledge about Allah Ta'ala, can make it easy for us to sin, on the other hand it can also make people not see other attributes of Allah and then despair of Allah's mercy—because of a sin (fall).

Man is a place of error and error in the true sense, which is paired with the nature of God who is present with the nature of Love and Full of Forgiveness. Allah Ta'ala is present with the nature of Love and Compassion. That was his partner. Man as a place to do wrong, and God with His nature of Love.

As for the higher the status of a person, the more sensitive he will be to the consequences of sin. Be sensitive to the punishment of Allah Ta'ala. Whoever has a higher status must be alert, must be careful about his actions.

Allah Ta'ala is a Being who loves forgiveness. Between us, it is obligatory to make a will to each other. If God is forgiving, then we as human beings must also be forgiving.

Allah Ta'ala says,

"O Son of Adam, as long as you pray and hope in Me, I will certainly grant you forgiveness for all the sins you commit without Me caring. O Son of Adam, if your sins reach the height of the sky, then you ask Me for forgiveness, I will certainly forgive all the sins you have committed without Me caring. O Son of Adam, if you come to Me with the sins of the whole earth, then you come to Me without associating anything with Me, I will surely come with the forgiveness of the whole earth." — HR At-Tirmidhi

In riyadah must also be empty, come to God with all our circumstances. Must be relaxed, not hysterical. Hysterical in riyadhah , like bringing deep regret in the sense of exaggeration, and that is not effective in riyadhah .

In suluk, there are people who come with their mistakes, their only desire is to be forgiven. It is better, because the hope is only to be forgiven—nothing else, because the essence of riyadhah is repentance .

The problem of worship is a matter of personal responsibility. Let us in every case seek the best of blessings, at all times, in every place. Taqwa in every situation.

The Prophet SAW said, " Knowledge is my capital."

When praying, we must give our best. The first thing to note is about prayer. Whoever wastes his prayer, then other things will be wasted even more. The believer's life is based on his prayer. Let's pray a lot when prostrating, because that is the closest time for me to my Lord.

The problem of ma'rifat is a matter of building personal knowledge, and it is very personal. We cannot depend on others. If the foundation is weak, then it cannot be a solid building. And prayer is the "miracle", which is the foundation.

There is no believer who is too self-confident to solve every problem in his life. We must rely on our prostration, our prayers, our hope in Allah Ta'ala. Even if we live in the storehouse of knowledge, if God does not bless us - it will not bring benefits. We must always pray to God with every breath. Those who do not pray to God are arrogant people. Whatever our problem, God is the one who solves it. That is the form of our ubudiyah .

Everything outside of prayer is a test. We have to worry about the trick of a test. Wherever we go, there are many tricks. Even in the grace of God though. We don't know how to properly process our brain, our thinking, our health. Not a little free time later became a disaster. Health can be a disaster.

Must fear Allah Ta'ala. Ask for His guidance, His protection in everything. All things that God brings can be fitnah, except those who seek refuge in God Almighty. Don't stop praying. Always ask for protection, even when studying the Qur'an.

Salat

There is no believer who is too confident that he can solve every problem in his life. We must rely on our prostration, our prayers, our hope in Allah the Exalted.

A walker is someone who truly relies on God at all times. Begging in everything, asking for everything, even creativity asking for guidance—from all things that Allah has brought, always asking for protection from Allah Ta'ala.

Even dreams can be a test. One can be tested in a dream about a law.

Everything that God brings can be a test.

The range of sins is very wide, from the very small to the serious. Small sins if done regularly will become a hill too, getting bigger and bigger. Small sins that are taken for granted will become big too.

Everyone has a spectrum of sins. It is very rare to see something as adz-dzanbu , because it is considered a small thing.

The more special a person is, the cleaner his heart will be. For special people, all things become adz-dzanbu .

Like the story of Prophet Yaqub, who was made blind for decades, as if he was not careful enough to entrust his children to his brothers, and did not entrust them first to Allah Ta'ala. For a Prophet, that was a fatal thing, until later Prophet Yaqub (peace be upon him) became blind. But a Prophet Yaqub (as) did not give up hope of God's mercy, until later he kissed the fragrance of Nabi Yusuf (as) and was cured of his blindness.

The example of the Prophet Yaqub (as) can happen to us. When we entrust our (future) children, it should be to Allah first. Not directly into planning, directly entrusting it to a school, and so on. It could be that we are blind hearted, because we are more confident in others, and do not entrust it to Allah the Exalted first, such as the example of the story of the Prophet Yaqub (as) who entrusted Yusuf (as) to his brothers.

However, in the same way, we must be like Prophet Yaqub: do not give up on God's mercy. Do not give up on the Spirit of God. Don't give up on meeting yourself.

O my children, go, then seek news about Yusuf and his brother and do not despair of God's mercy (spirit). Verily, no one despairs of God's mercy, except the unbelieving people. - QS Yusuf [12]: 87

Why we don't meet ourselves, or there is no progress in Suluk, is because we ourselves are not good at managing our munajat to Allah Ta'ala. Don't blame anyone, not the murshid's fault, not the religion's fault. It is because of our mistakes that are not smart and neat in using dialogue with Allah Ta'ala at all times. It's a free thing, which each of us can do. Because it is not the ruling murshid, nor the Prophet, but Allah is the one who has power over all things.

And the enemies in ourselves are many: thoughts, feelings, lusts, our knowledge, our light, other gifts of Allah can be the enemy of all of us. Therefore, as Imam An-Nifari said, "The trusted servants are those who return or surrender all things to Allah the Exalted."

God will give something, but we must ask. Ya Allah, I am a person who does not understand, I am a poor person about everything that You have given me. In all things, our knowledge, our rank, our intelligence. God, what is this for? How to manage it for the benefit?

Make it in every thing that God gives, we ask God. And change every thing, become our best vehicle in the afterlife. Whether it's our pen, our glasses, our book, our paper, our mobile phone. All things that God gives!

Ya Allah, give me the ability to manage all the things You give me correctly, to be in accordance with Your will, in Your pleasure.

Whoever truly trusts in God, then God will surely guarantee.
