The 66th Lecture of Wisdom – Lecture of al-Hikam
66TH WISDOM LECTURE, AL-HIKAM
Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim
Assalamualaikum wr. wb
"(It turns out there is) a group of people who are deliberately destined by Allah to be His faithful servants".
"There is also a special group that Allah has made as His loyal lovers."
"To each group, We give the mercy of your Lord, and the mercy of your Lord (once) cannot be hindered by anyone" (Surah al-Isra [17]: 20)
This time the discussion is about groups of Muslims. That the majority of Muslims, said al-Buthi, is divided into two major groups. These two groups will determine the progress of Islam in all corners of the world, in Islamic and non-Islamic countries.
Then who are the two determining groups in question? The answer is, as explained earlier on the theme.
First , is a group that is destined to be a faithful servant of Allah. Allah mentions them in QS 47:7
"O believers, if you help (religion) Allah, surely He will help you and confirm your position."
Serving Allah can be interpreted as serving for the advancement and benefit of Islam. They are people who are persistent in upholding the Shari'a. They are also passionate about building Islamic education, educating the younger generation. Struggle for the establishment of amar makruf nahi munkar, and others.
Well, the status of this group is the majority of Muslims in this world. In Indonesia, they are like FPI, HTI, NU and others.
Second , are those who are destined to be true lovers of Allah. Their main activity is the solemn worship of Allah. Because of their love for Allah, some of them even forget the life of the world, forget their family, let alone the surrounding community.
They are just busy dhikr and tadabbur evidence of God's power, and others. Well, this second group is a minority and only a handful. These true lovers of Allah are enshrined in QS 2:165
"And among mankind there are those who worship rivals besides Allah; they love them as they love Allah. As for those who believe, they love Allah very much . And if the wrongdoers knew when they saw the punishment (On the Day of Resurrection), that all power belongs to Allah, and that Allah is severe in torment (they will regret it)."
Or the following Hadith of the Prophet: "No one's faith is perfect until he loves Allah and His Messenger more than anyone else" (HR Imam Ahmad).
They are the chosen Waliullah. Their examples in Indonesia are the ulama, pesantren caregivers and religious educators in the villages.
The two groups also have their respective duties that are equally noble for Allah. Then the question is, why did Allah predestinate Muslims into two groups like that? What is the wisdom behind it all? Well, here the power of God is proven. Allah deliberately ordained life in such a way, so that the condition of Muslims remains balanced.
Some act as guards for the security and integrity of Muslims, by enforcing Islamic law and admonishing makruf nahi munkar. While others are tasked with filling the faith of the hearts of the people who are thirsty for the blessings of Islam, and constantly guiding the people to the right path.
Just imagine, if the figures / important people of this country became the enforcers of all good and bad deeds? What will happen to this country? Or for example the role models / important people of this country become Sufi and quiet, who are only busy with dhikr and worship? If everything changes drastically like that, then who will maintain the stability of this country? Who will keep the Muslims safe?
So, we are very lucky to have the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) in this country, which has contributed a lot to maintaining the peace of worship for Muslims. We are also fortunate to have a Kiai from the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) circle, who is instrumental in making the younger generation aware of their religious teachings.
Even though Muslims in this country are the majority, this will not guarantee that we can live in peace in this beloved country of Indonesia. Because the enemy of destroying Muslims sometimes even grows from the body of the Muslims themselves. In Indonesia, things like this are even worse. There are the Shia sects, Ahmadiyah, Liberal Islam, and others. They are like sharp thorns that pierce deep into the flesh. Danger!
The message of a young cleric: "As long as the devil is still around and roaming around, then our duty as truth enforcers must continue to exist and fight." There is no need for hatred or negative thinking, there should be no suspicion or hostility between fellow Muslims.
Try to think carefully about the following verse of QS 49:12
"O you who believe, stay away from a lot of preconceived notions (suspects), because some of them are sins. And do not look for the badness of people and do not gossip about one another. Is there anyone among you who likes to eat the flesh of his brother who is is dead? Then surely you will feel disgusted with him. And fear Allah. Verily Allah is Most Accepting of Repentance, Most Merciful."
So we also have to participate in sitting with the two groups earlier. Or at least, we should not interfere with their respective activities. All problems and events that occur in all parts of the world, all purely are God's destiny. We also have to keep it going. Because all events must have divine wisdom that accompanies it.
