The 67th Lecture of Wisdom – Lecture of al-Hikam

67TH WISDOM LECTURE, AL-HIKAM

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

Assalamualaikum Mr. Wb

"Warid always comes suddenly, so that I don't feel easily, he was obtained because of his hard work".

Everyone, said Al-Buthi, can get warid, only getting it through extra effort in worship or indeed there is special preparation. So according to Al-Buthi's explanation, warid is not obtained through any effort. No matter how solemn he worships, he doesn't necessarily get a warid. Even if he gets it, it really should be read as a gift. We don't deserve to feel entitled because we are obedient in worship.

Therefore, warids often come suddenly. It cannot be related to the totality and loyalty of a person in carrying out worship. Because being loyal and total in worship is the right of Allah (as Creator) as well as an obligation for us as servants.

As for the warid, again it is a gift, Allah has the right to give it to anyone, He wills. Without any tendencies. If someone feels his heart is softer to stay away from prohibitions and feels light to be invited to worship, that is not necessarily what is meant by warid. Because the feeling of being able to control one's lust so that it is not easy to do what is forbidden can be obtained after one is istikamah in worship.

Meanwhile, what is meant by warid here is more in the form of a whisper that flicks a person's heart, until he realizes after forgetting. Or after receiving the whisper, his heart is softer, which by nature always wants to sin, suddenly obeys.

Warid is more aptly described in a prostitute who is suddenly solemn and becomes a hijaber without prior plans and arrangements. Or a drug dealer who suddenly diligently goes to the musolla, diligently worships without any plans and thoughts in that direction beforehand. Then more and more thousands of people flocked to express repentance, led by His guidance, without the old language before.

That the way of guidance is more often obtained not through a learning process, but guidance which then demands that he learn many things. If we take a peek at history, there are many stories of characters who initially fell into a dark abyss, in the end they found a light.

There was Fudhail bin Iyadh, after a rose breeze blew into his heart, the strength of the wall was almost broken through at night. Abdullah bin al-Mubarak, he felt the whisper of a screeching voice in his ear which he knew was his path to obtain guidance. Bisyr al-Hafi, shouted hysterically after finding a warid until he unconsciously went down the night with bare feet.

We can even see that some people in Europe and America have moved on from kufr and embraced Islam. This is also due to the warids, whom we believe had not thought of in their minds before to know more and even embrace Islam.

So if indeed warid is a gift from God given as He wills, then what sin causes a person not to get? Al-Buthi explained that a person's instinct of faith makes him entitled to heirs, only the process varies and varies.

The educational model one takes has a role in the occurrence of this difference. Although everyone is free to make choices. Once again what makes the difference is the tarbiyah model that forms a civilization so that it affects the natural instinct of faith. People who are shaped by the environment, so that it is easy for them to sin, causing them to be prevented from getting heirs. However, people who grow up in an environment full of wisdom will be alert and responsive to the arrival of endless warids.
