The 69th Lecture of Wisdom – Lecture of al-Hikam
69TH WISDOM LECTURE, AL-HIKAM
Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim
Assalamualaikum wr. wb
"God deliberately made the afterlife a place of reward for all of God's believing servants, because the afterlife is very suitable to meet the needs of the portion of the reward that God will give. Their noble reward only fits in an eternal place."
Linguistically, the meaning of the word "Jaza'" is a reply: both in the form of rewards and goodness that Allah has prepared for His chosen servants. The things that exist in the hereafter are certainly not commensurate with those in the world. The pleasures of the hereafter cannot be imagined, felt or seen.
The pleasures of heaven are incomparable and cannot be described by anything in the world. The content of this world is nothing compared to the eternal gift of God. Allah has prepared all of these needs, especially for His beloved servants. See QS 3:185 below
Every soul will taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages. Whoever is kept from hell and admitted to heaven, then he has indeed succeeded. The life of this world is nothing but deceptive pleasure.
Well, it's clear, right, that Allah has prepared an abundance of His great favors for Muslims only to be enjoyed in the hereafter. Allah deliberately allows Muslims to live a simple life, while non-Muslims live a glamorous life in the world. It was God's destiny.
It is as if we who are Muslims are left alone by Allah, while those who are disbelievers are given abundant wealth. But don't immediately give an "unfair" verdict to God. Do not immediately positive thinking! Then how should we behave? Why did that happen? What is the wisdom behind Allah's destiny? There are two important lessons that we should know from the above theme. About life, that our life must have an important purpose.
The first lesson , for those who already understand, this world is actually a field of reward to be reaped later in the hereafter. The good that is done in this world also varies and continues to grow every time, according to the level of ability of each individual servant. Savings of rewards that continue to grow, of course, will not fit if they are answered directly in the world. The narrowness of the world will not be sufficient for those rewards. So it is very fortunate that Allah has prepared "heaven" for us, because we will be able to enjoy heaven's dishes as much as we want. Those who disobey Allah are the same way. For them, "hell" has been prepared, so that their punishment will be commensurate with their sins.
The second lesson is , if every Muslim's kindness is really rewarded directly in this world, the impact will be that they will not even want the afterlife. Muslims will be reluctant to go to the afterlife. They will be busy calculating the amount of goodness, plus the reward that will be enjoyed instantly.
For them it may be better to live in this world than in the hereafter. It's not impossible if they end up fearing death. It's dangerous. Worried that worldly pleasures will be cut off. Why do Muslims choose this world over the hereafter? Aren't you afraid that the afterlife is gone? As a result, all Muslims may not believe in the afterlife anymore, or even not believe in Allah anymore. Na'udzubillahi min zalik
So, it is very fortunate that Allah has destined this world to be limited to a "toll road" to just pass through. This kind of thing should be encouraged. The world is not a home or permanent residence. Inversely if we even make this world as the main goal of life. Well, from the two lessons above, perhaps you already understand that this world is only temporary material and will be damaged at any time
People with normal brains must believe that the eternal (the hereafter) must be more valuable than the mortal material (the world). That's right. So think about it when Allah explains the various tricks of the world, in QS 3:196-197
( 196) Never be deceived by the freedom of the disbelievers in the country.
( 197) It is only a temporary pleasure, then their abode is Hell; and Hell is the worst place.
Also think about the stark difference between this world and the hereafter, see QS 4:77
Have you not noticed those who were said to them: "Hold your hands (from fighting), establish prayer and pay zakat!" After they were obliged to fight, suddenly some of them (the hypocrites) were afraid of humans (the enemy), just as they feared Allah, even more so than that. They said: "Our Lord, why have You made it obligatory for us to fight? Why have not You deferred (the obligation to fight) on us for a while longer?" Say: " The pleasures of this world are short and the Hereafter is better for those who are pious, and you will not be wronged in the slightest .
Tadabbur negative effects if you are too dependent on the world, QS 57:20
Know that verily the life of this world is but a game and a distraction, adornment and boasting among yourselves and boasting about wealth and children, like rain whose crops amaze the peasants; then the plant dries up and you see it turns yellow and then it crumbles. And in the hereafter (later) there is a severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and His pleasure. And the life of this world is nothing but deceptive pleasure.
In conclusion, make this world just a passing road. No more. Don't make the world your goal in life.
