The 73rd Syarah of Wisdom – Syarah al-Hikam

The 73rd WISDOM OF WISDOM, AL-HIKAM

"Whoever does not like to face Allah with the smoothness of the gift of Allah, then he will be dragged to remember Allah with a chain of trials [accidents]."

There are two things that make a servant obedient and facing Allah, namely: 1. The favor of Allah has come to him, so that he will be grateful and appear obedient to Allah.

2. The coming of all kinds of calamities and disasters on himself or his property, then he can come to his senses and return to Allah.

Sometimes the calamity can also be the reason he leaves depending on the world and only depends on Allah. Because what Allah wants from his servant is the return of the servant to Allah by obeying (ridho) or being forced.

Whoever does not like to be aware and dhikr [remember] to Allah when he is healthy and sustenance is cheap, then he will be forced to dhikr [remember] Allah with the arrival of calamity [disaster]. So in both cases Allah is pleased to pour out the greatest blessings of grace to His servants.

"Whoever is not grateful for the favors of God, then it means trying to eliminate the favors, and whoever is grateful for the favors means that they have tied the favors with a strong bond."

Being grateful for the favor means setting and adding to the favor, Allah says: "Another syakartum la-adziydan-nakum" [If you are grateful, We will surely increase the favor for you]. Gratitude is sometimes with the heart, which is realizing that all pleasures come from Allah, Allah

says: "Wamaa-bikum min-ni'matin faminallohi" [There is no favor for you, then it is from Allah]. Sometimes it is verbal, that is, by telling the favor to others. The Word of God: "Wa-ammaa bini'mati Robbika fahad-dits" [As for the favors given by your Lord,

And there are times with the body, that is, by obeying Allah so that the body is not used to do things that do not please God.

An-nu'maan bin Bashir radhiyallahu 'anhu said, the Prophet sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam said: "Whoever is not grateful for a small favor, then he will not be able to be grateful for a lot of favors, and whoever is not grateful to his fellow man means that he cannot be grateful [thanks] to God."

Gratitude, Is felt in the heart, and spoken with the tongue, and worked with the limbs.

Junaid al-Baghdadi said: "When I was seven years old and present in the As - Sariyussaqathi assembly, I was suddenly asked: What is the meaning of gratitude? I'm afraid that your share of Allah's bounty is only in your tongue. Al-Junaid said: So because of the words that Assary uttered, I always cried, worried if what Assary said was true.
