The 77th Syarah of Wisdom – Syarah al-Hikam

77th WISDOM OF WISDOM, AL-HIKAM

Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim

Assalamualaikum wr. wb

The request of 'Arifin (people who have reached maqam ma'rifat) is that they may worship sincerely and carry out their obligations. Just that!

That Allah commands the servant to do what is at the core of all branches of duty; understand the nature of slavery. If one understands the nature of his existence as a servant, he will have no trouble finding a way to happiness in the world and the hereafter. Then how to serve in earnest is meant here? Is there a claim to be a servant is not always lived with full sincerity?.

Someone who sincerely declares himself to be a Muslim, it must be accompanied by the sincerity of claiming to be a servant. Because, carrying out orders and avoiding prohibitions can only be done after he acknowledges his capacity as a servant. That is, the worship performed by a Muslim as a practice, part of the belief as a servant. QS. Al-Bayyinah:5

"Though they were not commanded except to worship Allah by purifying obedience to Him in the straight religion, and that they should establish prayer and pay zakat; and that is the straight religion.”

Then in order to live life as a servant, every Muslim has a different level. This difference is more based on how much the stability of Allah's attributes fills his mind.

The lowest level is at least a servant who does not worship other than Allah, as an ally in divinity. And avoid the occurrence of minor shirk that arises from riya '/show off in every worship.

While the highest level is worship that is carried out for no purpose other than sincerely worshiping Allah, the Almighty. Until he did not expect a reward in return. Because hoping for a reward can only be done by servants who carry out orders correctly.

If the meaning of the essence of servitude is known, he will soon be able to get used to worshiping sincerely and be safe from the slightest shirk. 2 Requests made by people who reach the level of ma'rifat, breathe out the following two essential things.

First , the people of 'Arifin feel they have no right to want what Allah has promised in every thing He commands. After all, he realized that if the obligation was finally carried out, it would only be a gift from God and he had no role. The gift of being able to carry out worship and all obligations is Allah who has it and the reward that is asked for is also Allah who rewards it.

Second , the expression of prayer offered by 'Arifin in this wisdom is also an acknowledgment of how weak a servant is before his Lord. This is the essence of what a servant should ask for in every munajat. As a result, sincerity in worship cannot simply be expressed in words. However, it must be proven by the implementation of this 77 wisdom.

Then you will not find ma'rifat people claiming worship in earnest, but always feeling poor (needed) in front of Allah. So that the manifestation of that feeling is incarnated in every strand of prayer that is always heard to God.
