Complete story of the Prophet Adam, the first human created by Allah SWT

Prophet Adam

Adam was the first prophet and the first human being that God created. Previously, Prophet Adam lived in heaven with his partner, Eve.

However, at the persuasion of the devil, Adam and Eve ate the khuldi fruit which had been forbidden by God. Even though they had repented, Allah still ordered them to come down to earth.

Some of the miracles of Prophet Adam are:

Became the first caliph on earth.

Allah taught all things about the names of objects and creatures on earth.

Has a long life and can give 40 years to Prophet David.

Has a height of 60 cubits.

Blessed with twins in pairs.

The story of the Prophet Adam Alaihis Salam

Allah SWT created Adam as the first human in the world. As Muslims, believing in the existence of His prophets and messengers is one of the pillars of faith.

The creation of the Prophet Adam was written by Allah SWT in the Qur'an Surah Al Baqarah 30-39. It was explained, the angels had asked the purpose of the creation of humans who could cause damage on earth, but Allah answered it wisely.

 وَاِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةِ ِانِّيْ جَاعِلٌ فِى الْاَرْضِ خَلِيْفَةً ۗ قَالُوْٓا اَتَجْعَلُ فِيْهَا مَنْ يُّفْسِدُ فِيْهَا وَيَسْفِكُ الدِّمَاۤءَۚ وَنَحْنُ نُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِكَ وَنُقَدِّسُ لَكَ ۗ قَالَ اِنِّيْٓ اَعْلَمُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ

 Meaning: And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels, "I want to make a caliph on earth." They said, "Are you going to make people who spoil and shed blood there, while we glorify you and sanctify your name?" He said, "Truly, I know what you do not know."

Quoted from the book 'Acts of the Prophets' by Ibn Kathir, Prophet Adam was created by Allah SWT from the ground by simply saying the command 'Kun Fa Yakun'. As the word of Allah SWT in the Qur'an Surah Ali Imran verse 59.

Surah Ali Imran verse 59

 

 اِنَّ مَثَلَ عِيْسٰى عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ كَمَثَلِ اٰدَمَ ۗ خَلَقَهٗ مِنْ تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهٗ كُنْ فَيَكُوْنُ

Meaning: Verily, the parable (creation of) Jesus is to Allah, like (the creation of) Adam. He created it from clay, then He said to him, "Be!" So be that something.

In a hadith narrated by Bukhari, Prophet Muhammad SAW said that Prophet Adam was up to sixty cubits tall with thick hair. "Indeed, Allah has created Adam in the form of a man whose body is very tall and his hair is very thick. His body is like a date palm that towers very high."

Then, Allah SWT taught all things to Prophet Adam so that he understood them. This is explained in the Quran Surah Al Baqarah verse 31

Surah Al Baqarah verse 31

 

  وَعَلَّمَ اٰدَمَ الْاَسْمَاۤءَ كُلَّهَا ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى الْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةِ فَقَالَ اَنْۢبِـُٔوْنِيْ بِاَسْمَاۤءِ هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ

 Meaning: And He taught Adam the names of all of them, then He showed them to the angels, saying, "Mention to Me the names of all these (things), if you are right!"
