The Story of Abul Bilad and Salma: Romance Sometimes Makes People Lose Their Minds

Abul Bilad or Basyar bin Ala' was the brother of Banu Thuhayyah and one of the Banu Saud. He belongs to the people who become leaders of his people.

Since childhood, Abul Bilad has been abandoned by his parents because he died. He was then raised by his uncle, Hanif bin Amr, who previously received a legacy from Abul Bilad's parents.

Hanif bin Amr who is Abul Bilad's uncle has a daughter named Salma. She was the most beautiful girl in Nejd at that time, even her beauty was very famous. Because they often met, Abul Bilad fell in love with Salma. The relationship was initially unknown to Salma's father, but in the end the father also knew that Abul Bilad loved his daughter.

As explained by Ibnul Jauzi in his book Dzammul Hawa , seeing this Hanif bin Amr was afraid to make Abul Bilad his daughter's fiancé. So one day Abul Bilad left and was not home. Hanif bin Amr married Salma to one of her uncle's sons. The marriage was discovered by Abul Bilad. Since then, he's been dazed and lost his mind.

Until one day, Abul Bilad came to Salma's residence. He came in a state like someone who had come from a long trip. Salma saw Abul Bilad's face was pale. His face was full of anxiety like someone who was hit by something very terrible event.

Salma saw this and thought that Abul Bilad was hungry. He also gave food in which there was bird meat to him from behind a satir. Seeing this, Abul Bilad immediately grabbed it and ate it like a madman. Because of his strange behavior, Salma thought that Abul Bilad was possessed by a genie.

This makes Salma leave the house to meet her brother, Laila. Salma's steps out of the house were heard by Abul Bilad. He also came out to follow Salma. It turned out that he came out following Salma while carrying a drawn sword. The sword was then struck on Salma's shoulder. Salma lay down and groaned in pain.

Laila who heard the noise immediately came out, and saw that Salma had fallen because of the impact of Abul Bilad's sword. Immediately, Laila was chasing Abul Bilad. Until finally Laila managed to hit the bone behind Abul Bilad's ear. Getting hit by Laila, Abul Bilad staggered and fell. However, he still managed to get up and run away.

Salma's family who knew about the incident immediately screamed and came to Salma's house. Meanwhile, on the other hand, Abul Bilad fled and hid behind a hill adjacent to their house. During the day, Abul Bilad stayed on the hill and when night came he came down from the hill to see Salma's house.

While coming down from the hill, Abul Bilad saw the light lit by Salma's family. When Salma groaned in pain and faced death, Abul Bilad peeked at her.

When Abul Bilad peeked, it turned out that someone had seen him. The person then told Salma's father, but he said " I don't want to kill the child that was born. ”

After moaning in pain, Salma finally died. Meanwhile, after Salma's death, Abul Bilad was still like a possessed and unruly person until he finally died.

When a man feels that his woman is his world, then feelings of jealousy and anger arise towards his beloved because of one thing or the other. So this can sometimes encourage aggressive behavior that leads to the killing of loved ones, especially if lust has taken over human beings. Because lust and love can sometimes make people lose their minds. Therefore, fall in love naturally.

What Abul Bilad did to Salma was proof that he was unable to contain his lust. And what Salma's father did was proof that he was able to restrain his lust. That, life does not have to be repaid with life.
