The Story of Apes Ibnul Jauzi: His books were sold by his stubborn son

Abul Faraj Ibnul Jauzi (d. 597 H)  is one of the scholars of international caliber who is known to have many works. He is also known as an orator and a great preacher. These two great abilities made his name much remembered in history. In addition, he is also good at lecturing, also skilled at writing works. Imam Ad-Dzahabi once praised how many books he had written:

ما علمت أن أحدًا من العلماء صنف ما صنف هذا الرجل

"I have never found a scholar who has written as much as Ibn al-Jauzi's"

This is also confirmed by the testimony of Ibn Imad in Syadzarat al-Dzahab

لا يضع من زمانه شيئًا، يكتب في اليوم أربع كراريس، ويرتفع له كل سنة من كتابته ما بين خمسين مجلدًا إلى ستين، وله في كل علم مشاركة

“Ibnul Jauzi is a person who never wastes his time. In a day he can write more than 4 pages. Every year he is able to complete about 50 volumes of books. In addition, he is also a multidisciplinary religious figure.”

However, behind all the works and books he has written. Not everything ends well. He actually gets trials from the figure of his sweet son. His son, Ali, has a rather stubborn temperament. He often makes his father stroke his chest. Starting from being lazy to making trouble.

The behavior of the son of Ibnul Jauzi was once written by Abul Mudzoffar in Mir'at al-Zaman. when the fierce 'cold war' between Ibn al-Jauzi and his son. His son, Ali, often steals his father's collection of books and then sells them secretly in the market at unreasonable prices. He was desperate to sell these precious books for snacks. He did that many times. The father who found every day his book collection was reduced was confused.

Once he was caught taking, he immediately apologized to his father. But in the evening he re-launched the action, reselling his father's collection of books. His fad made him not being taken care of by his father for days. Until finally the father took the initiative to write a special book to advise his naughty son.
