Thabit bin Qais was a friend of the Prophet Muhammad from the Ansar group. He came from the Banu Khazraj, who was led by Sa'ad bin Ubadah. He converted to Islam because he was fascinated by the chanting of the verses of the Qur'an from Mush'ab bin Umair, the first missionary messenger of Kanjeng Prophet Muhammad to Yathrib (Medina) before he made the hijrah, after the first allegiance of the people of Medina in Mecca.
When Kanjeng Prophet emigrated and arrived in Medina, the Muslims of Medina who had quite a number of them welcomed him, including Thabit bin Qais. He is known as a speech expert, oration, representing the Muslims of Medina giving a sermon in the reception.
"O Messenger of Allah, we will protect and defend you as we protect and defend ourselves, our children and our wives. Then what's the answer?"
Kanjeng Prophet SAW replied, "Paradise."
Thabit bin Qais replied with great joy, "We are pleased, O Messenger of Allah, indeed we are pleased."
Since then he was often asked by Kanjeng Prophet SAW to deliver sermons, orations, and speeches, including when welcoming a group of guests from Bani Tamim. Kanjeng Prophet SAW repeatedly praised the expertise of Thabit bin Qais.

Instantly Thabit bin Qais came home and wept loudly. He was crying so hard that tears trickled down his beard.
For a time Thabit bin Qais did not gather with the Prophet until he asked about him. A moment later Thabit bin Qais was asked to come before the Prophet Muhammad.
To him PBUH, Thabit bin Qais said, "O Messenger of Allah, I like nice clothes, as well as good sandals, and I'm really afraid that the verse you read yesterday was about me." (in another narration: "I have a good camel and I sometimes boast to people ...").
Kanjeng Prophet SAW smiled and said, "O Thabit bin Qais, you live in goodness and you will die in goodness, one day you will enter heaven. That verse is not about you…”
How overjoyed was Thabit bin Qais–that it turned out that his hobby for such good things was not something that was reproached by Allah Ta'ala and the Prophet SAW.
Another time ago, Kanjeng Prophet SAW read another verse that had just come down, namely Surah Al-Hujurat verse 2: " O you who believe, do not raise your voice in front of Kanjeng Prophet SAW and also do not raise it to Kanjeng Prophet SAW. as you raise your voices among yourselves; (who does) his deeds will be forfeited and you will not be aware of it. ”
As in the previous incident, Thabit bin Qais came home and cried loudly, until his tears dripped between his beard. For a time he avoided the Kanjeng Prophet's assembly just to cry and cry with a heavy heart.

Again, Kanjeng Prophet SAW smiled and said, "O Thabit bin Qais, this verse is not about you."
How happy Thabit bin Qais heard the story of the Beloved of Allah Ta'ala, Khairu KhalqiLlah .
