The Story of the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad SAW: Barakah "fussy" Ukasyah bin Mihshan

The Story of the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad SAW: Barakah "fussy" Ukasyah bin Mihshan

The story of this one friend is not as famous as the names of the first ring friends of Kanjeng Prophet Muhammad SAW . But, at least, as far as I know, this "ordinary" friend is actually very surprising and inspiring with two things related to him. One incident even made a prominent friend Anas bin Malik ra very happy.

First , Ukasyah bin Mihshan is a "reckless actor" who appeared on the eve of the life of Kanjeng Prophet Muhammad, when he for the last time preached in his mosque in front of his friends in a sad atmosphere.

In a state of serious illness, Kanjeng Prophet SAW went up to his pulpit, then gave a sermon. At the end of the sermon, he (peace be upon him) invited his companions, whoever, to ask him for a ransom if he ever made a mistake.

Everyone bowed their heads in sobs – the image of parting was real before their eyes.

Unexpectedly, suddenly the figure of Ukasyah bin Mihshan raised his hand and spoke to break the silence that he had been hit by a camel whip by Kanjeng Prophet SAW on a trip. Ukasyah bin Mihshan loudly demanded ransom from him in the form of lashes as well. Of course the friends are very angry to see it.

Starting from Sayyidina Abu Bakr ash-Siddiq who volunteered to be whipped to replace Kanjeng Prophet SAW, then Sayyidina Umar bin Khattab, to Sayyidah Fatimah who was told by Bilal bin Rabah who was ordered by Kanjeng Prophet SAW to take the whip at home.

But Ukasyah bin Mihshan did not budge. He only wanted the " qishahs " to be carried out by the Prophet Muhammad himself. And Kanjeng Prophet SAW also allowed it.

He then took off his clothes, as directed by Ukasyah bin Mihshan, and prepared to receive the lashes. The friends all cried watching those tense moments – of course their incomparable anger at Ukasyah bin Mihshan.

The tense moments were simultaneously broken apart when Ukasyah bin Mihshan threw his whip and then rushed to hug the innocent body of Kanjeng Prophet SAW. He burst into tears, then said in a hoarse voice that all this he did simply because he really wanted his skin to come into direct contact with the skin of the noble body of Kanjeng Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Unexpectedly, the incident of "beggar" Ukasyah bin Mihshan actually became the cause ( asbabul wurud ) for this dawuh Kanjeng Prophet SAW: " ...al-mar-u ma'a man ahabba yaumal qiyamah, people will be gathered with their loved ones on the day of doomsday (hereafter)…. ”

Anas bin Malik ra how happy the dawuh was born. He was happy because it became a proof for the guarantee that he would reunite with the Prophet Muhammad in the hereafter. Ukasyah bin Mihshan's fussiness became a tremendous blessing…. (in another narration, his dawuh was related to a Bedouin Arab, not Ukasyah bin Mihshan).

Second , again Ukasyah bin Mihshan "acts up". In the book of commentary of Ibn Kathir, in the chapter of Ali 'Imran 110, in the latter part of the treasures of evidence and atsar presented by Ibn Kathir, there is a story of a friend on behalf of Ukasyah bin Mihshan. It is narrated that at that time Kanjeng the Prophet SAW was with a number of friends on a hill, among them was Sayyidina Umar bin Khattab. Kanjeng Prophet SAW then said about 70,000 of his followers who will go to heaven without being judged. Everyone listened attentively.

Not stated, after the dawuhan , suddenly Ukasyah bin Mihshan " nyeluthak ", like this:

"O Messenger of Allah, please pray for me to enter that group."

Kanjeng Prophet SAW also fulfilled the request, prayed for him, then said, "You belong to that group."

How happy Ukasyah bin Mihshan. His outspoken, bolosuko, and sat-set attitude made him a part of the blessing of Kanjeng Prophet SAW, and he was even prayed for in a special way.

Seeing this incident, another friend (unnamed) suddenly did the same thing with Ukasyah bin Mihshan, asking him to be prayed for and included in the free reckoning group. Kanjeng Prophet SAW dawuh, "I will pray for you, but help me and yourself by increasing your deeds..."

This answer is not exactly the same as his answer to Ukasyah bin Mihshan. I don't know, waLlahu a'lam bish shawab .

With a joking tone, I often narrate the history of Ukasyah bin Mihshan for friends around me, how it is possible for someone to be "fussy" in terms of love and deep love for someone (in this case to Kanjeng the Prophet SAW, and of course his heirs cum scholars today) become wasilah, because, for He has bestowed His grace and blessings on that person. I jokingly call it “ the nyeluthak tarekat ”–of course, what nyeluthak I mean is in the context of Ukasyah bin Mihshan earlier.

This history about the story of a friend named Ukasyah bin Mihshan can also be an inspiration for how much we are nothing, our lineage is mere laymen, but with love and love for Kanjeng the Prophet SAW, and the scholars of today, with such pure innocence. appearance, the paths of barakah, mercy, and intercession are very open for us.

Hopefully this inspiration can add to our ta'dhim nature to the scholars in the intention of tawassul barakah and mercy from the side of Allah Ta'ala and intercession from the side of the Prophet Muhammad SAW .
