The story of Hamid bin Al-Abbad was saved by a small man who became a prison guard
Small people who do not have classy positions are often underestimated by many people. Even though they sometimes actually have great services in someone's life, even many people. This is what has been felt by Hamid bin Al-Abbad.
In his book entitled Al-Faraj Ba'da ash-Syiddah , at-Tanukhi describes a narration from Hamid al-Abbad. In fact, Hamid bin Al-Abbad once told, " When you get a disaster, sometimes small people bring more benefits than people of rank."
One of the examples of Hamid al-Abbas's words above is what he once experienced with lsmail bin Bulbul. Where, one time lsmail bin Bulbul who at that time served as Prime Minister in the era of Caliph al-Mu'tamid Abbasid Dynasty, imprisoned Hamid bin al-Abbad. He also assigned a prison guard who had served him for a long time.
The jailer was a warm figure. Hamid al-Abbad also did good and obeyed him. Because he had been serving lsmail bin Bulbul for a long time, the guardian could freely enter into lsmail bin Bulbul's special council. He often stood in front of lsmail, and lsmail did not deny his actions at all, because of the length of his devotion.
One night, the guard met Hamid al-Abbad and advised him, " Because of you, the minister is angry with Abul Abbas bin Furat. The minister said to Abul Abbas, "Apart from you, no one can seize Hamid's property. It took a lot of effort to confiscate all his possessions. ” The prison guard also gave an information. To Hamid al-Abbad, he said, " Tomorrow the minister asked you to come. He wants to threaten you. ” And the minister's anger towards Abul Abbas bin Furat himself, was none other than because Hamid al-Abbad once pleaded and asked him for help.
What the guard said made Hamid al-Abbad worried. He asked the caretaker, " Do you have an opinion? "
The guard replied, " Yes, write a letter to one of your colleagues who has a miserly and greedy character. In the letter, ask him to lend you 1,000 dirhams to support your family. And ask him to reply to the letter on your envelope. Then the reply to the letter is addressed back to you. Because he is a stingy person, he will definitely refuse your request. Keep that reply from him! If later the minister calls you, remove the letter suddenly. Then tell him, 'This is the state of my life now.' I hope this effort bears fruit. ”
Hamid al-Abbad also made the proposal. Finally the answer to the letter has arrived. The answer turned out to be exactly as expected. Then he saved the answer letter.
The next day, the Minister released him from prison. He charged Hamid al-Abbad with various demands. So Hamid al-Abbad took out a letter from his colleague, then read it in front of the minister. Begging and begging him, Hamid al-Abbad said whatever he could say. After that, the minister was lenient. And that is why the punishment is light, even abolished.
When Hamid al-Abad became an official in the leadership of Minister Ubaidullah bin Sulaiman, he asked about the guard who made the proposal. He asked him to help with his work, and gave him a salary of 50 dinars per month.
Small people who do not have positions, odd jobs and work as they are on the side of the road are sometimes often the material for comparison. However, it is they who often save many people.
Because we don't know people's lives in the future, that's why, don't look down on people and like to underestimate people. Maybe, the people we look down on today, it turns out that the day after tomorrow we will ask for help from him. On the other hand, the people we respect and admire today, are unable to provide assistance when needed. Therefore, do not ignore and underestimate the people around us. How many people who are considered small, it turns out that their help can save.
