One of them is the story of Prophet Ibrahim.
One of them is the story of Prophet Ibrahim AS. Knowing his story from childhood to adulthood and having a son who is also a prophet, namely Prophet Ismail AS will provide extraordinary life lessons. Moreover, one of his life stories is related to the pillars of Islam, namely Hajj.
The Story of the Little Prophet Ibrahim
The story of the little Prophet Ibrahim began when he was born in a kingdom led by King Namrud. He is a very arrogant and selfish king of dzalim. One of the regulations that disturbed the people was to kill baby boys so that there would be no successor as king.
In order not to be caught, the mother of Prophet Ibrahim AS exiled him to the forest. By the power of Allah SWT, Prophet Ibrahim grew up to be a smart and tough child so that he was always safe from various kinds of dangers. Until one day he can return to society.
When Prophet Ibrahim AS returned, he was so confused because many were worshiping idols. Almost all the way home he saw a statue. When he got home, the object was still found and it turned out that his father worked as a sculptor.
Prophet Ibrahim AS was confused about what his father and people were doing and decided to be alone on the mountain. At such a small age, he also questioned himself and his curiosity was very big. Where is God? Which one is called God?
Then God gave him a miracle, namely an intelligent and critical thinking. Allah SWT sent him as a messenger of His existence so far, people will leave unimportant idols and fear Him.
With his wits, he employs tactics to awaken King Namrud and his followers. Prophet Ibrahim carried out his action by destroying all idols except the biggest idol.
When King Namrud returned from out of town, he was furious. He is looking for the one who destroys his idols. One of his followers told him that it was Prophet Ibrahim who did it. Full of anger, he asked Prophet Ibrahim to face him.
King Namrud: "O Ibrahim, aren't you the one who destroyed these idols?"
Prophet Ibrahim: "No!"
King Namrud: "Then who else if, weren't you here when we left and you hated these idols?"
Prophet Ibrahim: “Yes, but I did not destroy the idols. I thought, it was the big idol that crushed him, wasn't the ax around his neck?"
King Namrud: "How could an idol statue do such a thing!".
Hearing this Prophet Ibrahim firmly said: "Then why do you worship idols that can't do anything?"
So smart and clever Prophet Ibrahim answered all the questions from King Namrud. Until finally many people realized that the God they had worshiped could not move, see, and could only be silent.
The story of Prophet Ibrahim continues as he, his wife Hajar and their little baby Isma'il travel for days. Then, they stop at a place devoid of water, plants or human life. The only thing that can be seen is hills and sand.
Prophet Ibrahim helped his wife and son down and then left them with some food and water to drink . When he climbed back on his camel, Hajar was very surprised and asked him, "Where are you going, Ibrahim, leaving us in this barren valley?"
Prophet Ibrahim did not answer. Hajar was worried that bad things would happen to them, especially her baby who could die of hunger and thirst. Then Hajar asked again, "Did Allah command you to do it?". "Yes," answered Prophet Ibrahim.
Because Hajar is a devout wife and has a strong faith, she said: "If this is God's command, then He will not leave us,". Even though Prophet Ibrahim was very worried about his family, he knew Allah SWT was testing him; and Allah swt will take care of his family.
Prophet Ibrahim also prayed : "Our Lord, indeed I have placed some of my descendants in a valley where there is no vegetation near your respected house (Baitullah). Our Lord (that is) that they may establish prayer. So make the hearts of some people inclined towards them and provide them with fruit, hopefully they will be grateful” (Surah Ibrahim: 37).
After the water and food ran out, Hajar and her baby were hungry and thirsty. Baby Isma'il began to cry sadly and Hajar's tears began to flow. Unable to stand it, Hajar put down Ismali and started looking for water.
He ran from Mount As-Safa to Mount Al-Marwa hoping to find food, water or someone to help them. Hajar did this 7 times while continuing to pray. This incident became one part of the pilgrimage, namely jogging between Safa and Marwa.
Hajar came back and looked at her helpless baby. He wept and prayed with all his heart that Allah SWT would help them. Then the magic happened. Hajar saw clear water rising from the dry ground at her baby's feet.
Allah SWT has responded to his cry! Quickly, he poured water into Isma'il's mouth and then drank it too. This is the story of the presence of Zam-zam water which still flows without drying up until now.
The story of the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim and his family continued when he had a strange dream. When the prophet Isma'il was young, he dreamed that he was sacrificing his only son who he loved so much. However, Prophet Ibrahim knew that his dream was a command of Allah SWT and he would obey that command.
This is a very big sacrifice. Only a great prophet like Ibrahim was able to perform this task as proof of his true love for his Creator. Prophet Ibrahim then told Isma'il about the dream with sadness.
Ismail said: "Oh my father! Do as you are commanded, if Allah wills,". Isma'il then took off his clothes and drank water. Fearing trouble, Isma'il asked his father to tie his hands and feet.
Prophet Ibrahim then sharpened his knife so that his death was fast and the pain was reduced. With a heavy heart, he raised his knife and brought it to Isma'il's throat, but the knife would not cut!
Ismail urged his father to press harder but was still not cut off. Prophet Ibrahim then asked for forgiveness for his weakness, and Allah SWT answered his request, "O Ibrahim, you have fulfilled his dream, so we reward the obedient."
After that, a large ram appeared to replace Isma'il. The sharp knife could in fact cut the sheep's throat in one swift motion. This is the story of Prophet Ibrahim who became the basis for the feast of sacrifice or Eid al-Adha.
From birth until the end of his life, the story of Prophet Ibrahim became an extraordinary form of obedience and monotheism. This can be an ideal portrait for education in the family. There are several virtues that can be found in the story of Prophet Ibrahim.
