There are many fun and exciting Islamic learning methods for your little one. For example, through fairy tales of the stories of the Prophets and Apostles.

Moreover, there are interesting illustrations that make children curious about the storyline. In addition, reading fairy tales from the stories of the Prophet will also increase religious knowledge in children.

One of the stories of the Prophet that is interesting to share with children is the story of Prophet Ibrahim AS . The story of Prophet Ibrahim AS is the beginning of Islamic teachings to slaughter sacrificial animals during Eid al-Adha.

1. Prophet Ibrahim had Ishmael as his first son

Prophet Ibrahim had two wives, named Siti Sarah and and Siti Hajar. From the marriage of Prophet Ibrahim with Siti Sarah got a son who was named Ishaq. However, Siti Sarah was only blessed with a child a few years after the child from her second wife was born.

The second wife, Siti Hajar, was blessed with a son first. Prophet Ibrahim named his first child Ismail.

However, at first Sarah felt sad if she had to live with Hajar because Sarah could not give offspring to Prophet Ibrahim. He felt sad when he saw Hajar with Ismail.

Until a moment with an order from Allah SWT, finally Prophet Ibrahim moved Siti Hajar together with her young son Ismail to the city of Mecca.

He settled near the place where the Kaaba would later be built.

2. Siti Hajar and Ismail live in the desert

In the city of Mecca, Hajar and Ismail lived in a barren desert with a scorching sun. Then, there was not a single person who settled there.

Hajar was also very anxious and sad when Prophet Ibrahim would leave her alone with her young son in a lonely place, no one at all, except only sand and stones.

Moaning and crying, he held tightly to Prophet Ibrahim's shirt while begging for his mercy, asking not to be left alone in such an empty place.

There were no animals, no trees, not even running water could be seen in that place.

In fact, Siti Hajar is still responsible for nurturing Ismail who is still breastfeeding her.

3. Prophet Ibrahim moved Hajar and Ishmael on God's orders

However, Prophet Ibrahim AS could not do anything and still left Hajar and Ismail in Mecca. Then at the command of Allah SWT, Prophet Ibrahim returned to the land of Sham with his first wife, namely Siti Sarah.

Prophet Ibrahim then continued his journey and reached a hill.

When Prophet Ibrahim could not see Siti Hajar and her child anymore, Prophet Ibrahim then turned towards the Kaaba and prayed for his wife and son by raising both hands.

He prayed for the safety of his wife and children.

4. Hajar ran out of water and couldn't breastfeed Ismail

Hajar then directly breastfed Ismail. He drank the prepared water he had brought. Until one day Hajar ran out of water, he was so thirsty that his milk dried up.

He looked at Ismail, his baby who was struggling with thirst. Hajar also tried to find a source of water. In his quest to find water, Hajar ran here and there until the hills of Shafa and Marwah.

Hajar desperately hoped to find something that could help her, but all she found was stone and sand there. Then from the hill of Safa, Hajar saw the shadow of water flowing over Mount Marwah.

Then he ran to the hill of Marwah, but when he got there, what he thought was water turned out to be only a shadow.

Siti Hajar heard a voice calling her from Bukit Shafa, so she went to that place. However, after reaching Bukit Shafa he did not find anyone.

5. God created a spring named zam-zam water

Hajar continued to hear voices pointing to the place where her baby Ismail was lying crying while thrashing and stomping his feet.

Suddenly, near Ismail lying down, a spring gushed forth. The water continued to come out in abundance.

Seeing the spring, Siti Hajar immediately ran in a hurry to collect the water. Called the abundant water with the name  " Zam-Zam"  which means "gathering".

Seeing the abundant water Hajar was very happy. He immediately wet his son's lips with the water. Instantly Ismail's face looked very fresh.

Likewise with Siti Hajar. His face looks shining again, he feels happy because God has provided help by giving life after being overshadowed by death.

6. The spring source turns into a well

The spring then turned into a lake and until now it is called the Zam-Zam Lake.

Siti Hajar's efforts to find water were not in vain, she went here and there to get water until she finally reached Bukit Shafa and Marwah.

Until now, walking from Safa to Marwah is made as one of the Pillars of Hajj called Sha'i .

7. Prophet Ibrahim dreamed of slaughtering Ishmael

When Ismail was a teenager, Prophet Ibrahim was very happy, but that happiness suddenly dissipated because of the command of Allah SWT through his dream.

Prophet Ibrahim had a dream that he had to slaughter his son, Ismail.

At first, Prophet Ibrahim was very sad to accept the dream. However, the dream of a Prophet is one of the ways Allah SWT sends his revelation to the Prophet. So, the order he received in the dream must be implemented by Prophet Ibrahim.

8. Prophet Ibrahim conveyed his dream to Ismail

Knowing the order, Prophet Irahim sat and pondered thinking about the test from Allah that was so heavy. As a father who had just been blessed with a child after decades of being coveted, suddenly had to be made a sacrifice and had to be snatched away by his own father's hand.

With a heavy heart, Prophet Ibrahim then conveyed his dream to Ismail.

Hearing Prophet Ibrahim's words about his dream, Ismail without the slightest doubt said, "Father, do what Allah SWT has commanded."

9. Ishmael is ready to be slaughtered by Prophet Ibrahim

Several times Prophet Ibrahim was tempted by the devil not to carry out the command of Allah SWT to slaughter Ishmael. However, Prophet Ibrahim did not waver and even the devil failed to tempt him.

Until finally, the moment of the terrible slaughter had arrived. Prophet Ismail's hands and feet were tied.

Ismail was laid down, then the sharp sword that was available was taken. Prophet Ibrahim held the sword tightly with both hands.

The eyes of Prophet Ibrahim, which were still filled with tears, looked at his son's face and turned to look at the shiny one in his hand.

10. Ishmael was replaced by a goat when slaughtered

However, Angel Gabriel suddenly lifted Ismail and replaced him with a very large and fat goat.

This incident occurred on the 10th of Dzulhijjah in Mina which was later commemorated as Eid Al-Adha by Muslims around the world to this day.

In addition, Muslims who are performing the Hajj can perform qurban in Mina as a tribute to Prophet Ibrahim AS.

That is the story and miracle of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) which is part of the history of Islam about Eid al-Adha. Prophet Ibrahim who was so full of patience and sacrifice because he had to be willing to slaughter his beloved son, Ismail who later with his sincerity God replaced him with a sacrificial animal.

Important lessons from the Story of Prophet Ibrahim AS about sincerity, sincerity and faith are very important to teach to children. I hope you can learn from it.
