At that time, the people where he lived often worshiped idols. In fact, the father of Prophet Ibrahim himself was a maker of idol statues and believed that statues were an intermediary between humans and the Creator.

"O Ibrahim, aren't you the one who destroyed these idols?" said King Namrud.
"Not!" answered Prophet Ibrahim.
The debate ensued, Prophet Ibrahim said that it was the biggest idol that destroyed the other idols because the big ax was on the neck of the biggest idol.
The king did not believe it because for him it was impossible that a statue could do such a thing. Finally, Prophet Ibrahim was burned alive. That is where God's power comes, the fire is not able to burn Prophet Ibrahim. Thus, the people of Prophet Ibrahim went toreligionAllah SWT.

At first, Prophet Ibrahim really wanted a child. However, his wife, Sarah, is getting old so it is not possible to conceive. Then, Sarah asked Prophet Ibrahim to marry Hajar, their second loyal servant. That way, Sarah hoped that Prophet Ibrahim would have a child with Hajar.
After the Prophet Ibrahim and Hajar married, they were blessed with a son named Ismail. Once when Ismail was growing up, Prophet Ibrahim dreamed that he was slaughtering his son. Initially, Prophet Ibrahim doubted that the dream was a revelation.
Prophet Ibrahim conveyed the dream to Hagar and her son, Ismail. Knowing that, Ismail replied:
"O my father, do what you are commanded".
Ismail's answer is enshrined in the Qur'an sura As Shaffat verse 102. The next day, Prophet Ibrahim brought Ismail to a hill to be slaughtered. Before the slaughtering process began, Ismail asked his father to close his eyes.
Prophet Ibrahim agreed to Ismail's request. Beginning by reciting a sentence in the name of God, Prophet Ibrahim's sword pointed straight at Ismail's neck. By the power of God, Ishmael's body was replaced by a goat. In fact, there was not a single goat there at that time.
For the incident, both praised the power of God. On the one hand, Prophet Ibrahim was grateful for carrying out God's command according to the dream he had. After returning from the hill, Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail non-stop recited takbir while praising the greatness of Allah SWT.
