The trials and tribulations in the story of the prophets and apostles also prove that the prophets and apostles in Islam are always full of patience in living their lives.
When talking about the patience that the prophets have very much and one of the prophets who has high enough patience is the Prophet Ya'qub AS His story describes a human figure who remains steadfast even though he has faced various kinds of trials, one of which is getting bad treatment from her sister.
Prophet Ya'qub's childhood
Prophet Ya'qub AS is the son of a father named Prophet Isaac AS and mother named Rafiqah and he is the grandson of Prophet Ibrahim AS Prophet Ya'qub AS has a twin brother named Ish. Therefore, the parents of Prophet Ya'qub AS really hope that his twin sons can follow in the footsteps of their grandfather, Prophet Ibrahim AS
In order to be able to practice good deeds and be able to spread them like his grandfather, Prophet Isaac AS began giving religious lessons and giving advice to his twin sons. He will always try himself to give religious lessons and advice to his two sons under any circumstances. The things that are always taught are things that can make life more calm and peaceful, so we must stay away from jealousy, envy, immorality, and hostility. This he did so that his two sons always believed in Allah and became servants who always put their trust in Him.
However, the hope of Prophet Isaac AS to have obedient children to carry out God's commands was not appropriate because his son named Ish had traits that did not practice kindness, such as jealousy, envy, pride, and liked to show off. However, the son of Prophet Isaac AS named Ya'qub has a very different nature from his twin brother, Ya'qub's traits reflect goodness, such as not being arrogant, not immoral, and very gentle.
The differences in their contradictory traits made them fight with each other when they were teenagers. Ya'qub has a relentless nature and his brother, Ish always feels the most right and does not want to give in to his brother even though he is in a state of guilt. Ya'qub never fought his brother and he remained patient and always prayed for his brother to return to the good and right path in the future.
Prophet Isaac AS advised his two sons, "O my son. You must continue to believe and fear Allah and always carry out His commands and stay away from His prohibitions. We as servants of God must always do good deeds to fellow human beings and must help the poor. It must be done because it is recommended by Allah.”
Ya'qub answered the advice politely, but his brother Ish didn't say anything after listening to his father's advice. Prophet Isaac AS who saw the response of his son, Ish could only smile. Seeing the nature and behavior of his two sons, Prophet Isaac AS and his wife began to think that the one who was more fitting to pass on the teachings of Allah's religion was Ya'qub. This is because Ya'qub has the qualities that reflect someone who is pious and every action is always commendable. This pious nature and commendable deeds never belonged to Ish.
As he grew older, the fights between Ish and Ya'qub became more and more frequent, Ya'qub's older brother always mocked his younger brother and his younger brother did not reply to the taunts many times and was always patient when being teased. Until one day, Yaqub began to feel restless and told Prophet Isaac AS that his brother had mocked him.
Hearing the story from Ya'qub, Ish began to be given advice by Prophet Isaac AS After seeing Ish's bad habits that did not change, Prophet Isaac AS and his wife planned to immediately marry Ish. By getting married, it is hoped that Ish's character and behavior can change for the better. Ish also married a woman he trusted.
However, Ish's nature and behavior towards Ya'qub remained the same and did not change even though he was already married. Ya'qub who received ridicule, insults, and threats from his brother, began to tell this to his father. Prophet Isaac AS The father who heard the story from Ya'qub began to ask Allah and pray, "Hopefully you can inherit the prophetic nature that I have, my son and I pray that you will someday send down some prophets and kings from your lineage, my son."
Journey to Iraq
Despite being given advice many times, Ish still disliked Ya'qub and always mocked and mistreated Ya'qub. Seeing that the incident was continuing, Prophet Isaac AS wanted to entrust Ya'qub to his wife's brother with the aim that Ish could not disturb, mock, and persecute his younger brother, Ya'qub. Prophet Isaac AS started telling his wife about this idea that Ya'qub would be entrusted to Sheikh Labban who was his wife's brother. The residence of Sheikh Labban is in Faddan A'ram (Iraq).
Ya'qub is a child who is obedient to both parents. Ya'qub who heard this suggestion also followed the direction of Prophet Isaac AS. Even though he moved to Iraq, Ya'qub's parents always advised, "hopefully there you can learn religious knowledge from your uncle." In addition, Prophet Isaac AS advised that you must be careful when traveling from the road to Iraq.
After finishing the Fajr prayer, Ya'qub began to rush to Iraq to stay at the house of Sheikh Labban's uncle, he brought provisions and not so many clothes and put them in a bag. Ya'qub's parents took their son to the front door of the house. When he said goodbye, Ya'qub was instructed by his father to give a letter to Sheikh Labban.
Ya'qub's journey was a vast desert and sahara, so several times Ya'qub needed to rest himself so he wouldn't be too tired. The journey to Iraq is also carried out at night while during the day it is used to rest. When resting and feeling the need to replenish energy, then Ya'qub began to open his provisions and eat them.
Ya'qub who believed that he could reach Faddan A'ram (Iraq). Thanks to that trust, patience and steadfastness emerged that the journey through the vast desert and sahara was the first test given by God. Ya'qub who began to feel that he was very tired, began to look for a comfortable place to rest and so that he could fall asleep.
While sleeping because he was very tired, Ya'qub dreamed that his future life would be full of sustenance and his life would be full of peace, starting from family to posterity and being able to establish a fairly large prosperous kingdom.
After waking up from sleep and his dream, Ya'qub got ready to continue his journey to Faddan A'ram (Iraq). In the middle of the trip, he kept thinking about the meaning and significance of his dream earlier.
After some time thinking about the meaning and meaning of the dream, he heard a voice that appeared in his ears, "O son of Isaac. Do not be afraid and surprised. I am the angel Gabriel who has been sent by Allah SWT to deliver revelations to you, Ya'qub. O Ya'qub, know! From this moment Allah SWT has raised you as a prophet and messenger. Spread every truth to all mankind so that they worship and fear God Almighty, and God will inherit Baitul Maqdis, a happy life, and a very large kingdom for you and your descendants."

However, Sheikh Labban gave a condition if the Prophet Ya'qub AS wanted to marry one of his daughters. Sheikh Labban said that the condition was that he had to be a goat herder for seven years and that it would be a dowry for his marriage later. When asked which daughter he wanted to marry, Prophet Ya'qub AS replied that he wanted to marry Rahil. However, Sheikh Labban explained that it could not happen if you (Prophet Ya'qub AS) did not marry his older sister, Laya first.
At that time, customary law forbade if a younger sister stepped over her older sister to marry first.
After hearing the statement from Sheikh Labban, Prophet Ya'qub AS agreed to all the requirements given by the father of Laya and Rahil. Prophet Ya'qub AS prayed to God to beg that his father and mother's desire to marry Sheikh Labban's daughter could be fulfilled. "O Almighty God, I beg you to grant the wishes of my father and mother. Give me the strength to go through the test and strengthen my faith. Indeed, it is only to You that we ask for help and You are All-Knowing of the unseen."
After passing the test of herding goats for seven years, Prophet Ya'qub AS married the daughter of Sheikh Labban, Laya. His son's marriage to the daughter of Sheikh Labban was heard by Prophet Isaac AS and his wife and those who heard the news were happy.
