The Story of Prophet Yusuf the Interpreter of Dreams (Part-2)
King's Dream
One night the King fell asleep. Then dreamed something amazing, namely seeing seven fat cows in a green meadow by the river. Suddenly there were seven lean cows that approached and ate them all. The king woke up in fear. Later he continued his sleep and dreamed again. He saw seven full wheat stalks. There are also seven dry and empty grains. The dry wheat swallowed seven full stalks of wheat earlier.
Then the king awoke again from his sleep. He called his higher-ups and then held a big meeting. In the meeting the king told about his dream. The higher-ups thought about the king's dream, but their efforts were in vain. They were unable to give the king an answer.
The royal drinker at that time was filling a cup with wine and overheard the higher-ups talking with the king. The drinker quickly promised that he would tell the meaning of the king's dream. He told a dream that one of his friends had in prison. At that time his dream was interpreted by Yusuf and the dream after being interpreted became a reality. So the King decided to meet Joseph with the drinker.
Economy Crysis
The drinker immediately went to see Yusuf in prison to get the meaning of the dream from his king. Yusuf clearly saw that there would be an economic crisis in the future. Yusuf said, " So that you cultivate crops for seven years (as long as) as usual: then what you reap let you leave the ears except a little for you to eat. Then after that will come seven very difficult years which consume what you have saved to face it (the difficult year), except for a little of (grain seeds) that you save. Then after that will come a year in which people will be given rain (sufficiently), and in which they will press wine.”
The drinker also brought Yusuf's words and told the interpretation of Joseph's dream in detail. The king was surprised by Yusuf's words, apparently Joseph not only interpreted his dream but also gave them an economic plan. The king ordered the soldiers to follow the instructions of the Prophet Yusuf.
Now the king understood that Joseph was a man of many abilities. Therefore the king ordered that Joseph be released. But when Yusuf was about to be released, he refused to leave the prison until the king himself confirmed that he was innocent.
Until finally Joseph became a big figure in Egypt. He was determined within himself to save Egypt from future economic catastrophe, managing agriculture and irrigation affairs. Joseph was appointed governor of Egypt. He is a very patient person. He believed in Allah, had a clean heart and was filled with faith.
Agriculture and the dry season
It is clear that progress was made during the reign of the Prophet Yusuf. Agriculture, irrigation flows smoothly. At that time there was a drought but because of the tactics that Yusuf had prepared for seven years, during the economic crisis Egypt did not experience difficulties at all. Their barns are full of wheat.
During Joseph's reign, Egypt was filled with the goods of people who came from everywhere to Egypt. Because of Yusuf's warm treatment to anyone, he is not selfish for the power he has and is humble without comparing who he is.
