The story of a young man who is always kind to others but ends up being slander
Zaid, you name it, is a very lucky man. He has many treasures. What is more profitable is that besides being materially rich, he is also rich in heart. He is a very generous human figure, likes to help others.
One of the people he helped was Fulan (not his real name). Fulan is very close to Zaid. Therefore, all the needs of Fulan are borne by Zaid. After getting close and getting help from Zaid, Fulan's life changed. Now, he lives in very prosperous and honorable conditions.
However, over time, Fulan became a figure who did not know himself. He now begins to hate Zaid, the person who has been helping him. Not only that, Fulan even slandered Zaid with trumped-up accusations. The accusations even went to court.
Thanks to Fulan's slander and accusations, Zaid now has to face the law. Amir (Governor) called him. Zaid is on trial. Because he didn't do anything wrong, he rejected the charges against him and denied it with data and facts.
Amir denied Zaid's self-defense, that is, armed with the information he received from Fulan.
"However, Fulan said so about you," replied Amir.
Amir's words were like lightning in broad daylight. Now, Zaid realizes that what he is experiencing now is due to slander from his close person, Fulan. It really wasn't that Fulan had the heart to do this. Zaid was flabbergasted and still couldn't accept the reality.
Seeing Zaid's strange attitude and behavior, Amir asked, "What's the matter with you?"
Instead of responding to Fulan's vile slander, Zaid blamed himself. He said to Amir, “I'm actually worried. It's possible that Fulan's bad attitude came about because of me, namely because I was careless and wasn't careful in helping Fulan.”
(The author understands, this speech can have two meanings. First , Zaid feels that what he has given to Fulan is considered insufficient. Second , Zaid feels careless because he is too kind to Fulan so that Fulan forgets the land because he becomes a new rich person)
Zaid's answer made Amir understand and realize who should be defended. Amir said, "Subhanallah. You guys are really different. You are good to him and so and so are doing bad to you. I testify, you are indeed a person with a noble heart and so and so are people with a bad temper."
After the incident, Amir finally invited Zaid to leave the courtroom. The trial is over. However, when Zaid was about to leave, Amir said to pray, "May Allah give long life to people like you".

The story above the author reads from the book 'Uyun al-Hikayat by Ibn Jauzi. Through the story above, we can learn many things. One of them is to keep doing good to everyone, including those who are not good.
We should realize that not all good deeds that we do to someone are welcomed by him. "Milk is returned with tubal water", as our proverb says.
What is our attitude? Actually there is no prohibition for us to repay the evil of others. Precisely this, in certain circumstances, is very necessary so that the person can be deterred and repent.
However, it's best to still be kind to him. Such an attitude, will not bring God's grace to us, but also (hopefully) will make the perpetrator aware of the mistakes he has made.
As a result, good deeds must still be carried out and done to anyone. When our good deeds actually bring badness, we should remain calm, because perfume is perfume and carrion is carrion. Everyone will get their due in due time. Gusti Mboten Sare.
