When the Messenger of Allah tucked a stone in his stomach

When the Messenger of Allah tucked a stone in his stomach

Once upon a time the Prophet SAW became a prayer imam. The companions who were makmum behind him heard a rumbling sound as if the joints of the Prophet's body were shifting against each other.

Sayidina Umar, who could not bear to see his condition, immediately asked after finishing the prayer, "O Messenger of Allah, we see that you are suffering a great deal, are you sick?" But the Prophet replied, "No. Alhamdulillah, I am healthy and fresh."

Hearing this answer, Umar continued his question, "Then why every time you move your body, we hear as if the joints are rubbing against your body? We're sure you're sick…”

Seeing the anxiety on the faces of his companions, the Prophet lifted his robe. The friends were very surprised. It turned out that the Prophet's deflated stomach was wrapped in a piece of cloth filled with pebbles to resist hunger. The small stones are the ones that make subtle sounds every time the Prophet's body moves.

Umar dared to say, "O Messenger of Allah! Is it when you say you are hungry and have no food, then we will just remain silent?"

The Prophet replied gently, "No my friends. I know, you will sacrifice anything for the sake of your Messenger. But what will I answer before God later, when I, as a leader, become a burden for his people?"

The friends were just stunned. The Prophet continued, "Let this hunger be God's gift to me, so that my people will not be hungry in this world, let alone in the Hereafter.
