About Ahmad Wahib and Gus Dur's Books
Around 1982-1983 Ismed asked to edit Ahmad Wahib's diary. He did it like a hermit. He lives in the Sandratex area of the Friday Market. In short, the edits from the "bengkalai diary" were completed and because they had a contract with LP3ES, Ismed, who was freelance at the time, was asked to be responsible until the book was published. So Ismed officially became a book editor at the LP3ES publisher.
One day Gus Dur came and was presented with a draft of the book. All day he reads while sitting on a rattan chair in the interior of the newsroom.
In the late afternoon, when the staff was about to go home, Gus Dur had just finished his reading. Then he approached Ismed, "This is terrible, Med, this is a best seller, what's the title"?
"Bung Aswab said the Confusion of Reformed Thoughts," replied Ismed.
Aswab Mahasin at that time was the LP3ES Publishing Director. Gus Dur replied, “Why? Just replace "Islamic Thought Upheaval," said Gus Dur, raising his clenched fist into the sky.
That is what inspired the cover and title of Ahmad Wahib's Daily Catan book. Gus Dur's fist which was recorded in Ismed's memory then poured it into doodles which were then scattered to the visual section to describe it. And Gus Dur's prediction was right. The book has been reprinted many times to date.
