Abuya Dimyati's Love Devotion

The journey of knowledge of the Sufi kiai needs to be followed as a reference and example of wisdom. The Sufi kiai not only recite the Koran in Islamic boarding schools to gain religious knowledge, but also absorb the wisdom of the older kiai who teach in principle and action, teaching haaliyyah (science of attitude). Among the wandering santri and Sufi kiai who need to be mirrored, is Shaykh Muhammad Dimyati bin Amin, otherwise known as Abuya Dimyati.

Abuya Dimyati is a reference cleric in the Banten area. He was known as 'alim, wira'i, who took care of the students until they spread as preachers. His full name is KH. Muhammad Dimyati bin Muhammad Amin al-Bantany. Born to the couple Kiai Haji Amin and Hj. Ruqayah. He was born in 1925, in Banten. Since childhood, it has been seen his intelligence and piety, who diligently recites the Koran and deepens Islamic knowledge. He is also known as a wandering santri, who explores Islamic boarding schools in Java to the island of Lombok.

Shaykh Abuya Dimyathi started a pesantren in Cidahu Village, Pandeglang, in 1965. He was a teacher of kiai, such as Habib Hasan bin Ja'far Assegaf, who was the caretaker of the Nurul Musthofa Assembly in Jakarta. Mbah Dim is a scholar who istiqomah to pray in congregation. As if the congregation of prayer is an obligation for him. This became his will to his family and students. In addition to congregational prayers, Mbah Dim also emphasized the importance of the Koran. "Don't let the Koran be abandoned because of other activities or because of age," said Abuya Dimyathi.

Absorbing the Light of Love

Abuya Dimyati's spiritual journey began when he traveled through the light of knowledge and wisdom in several Islamic boarding schools. When reciting the Sufi teacher Kiai Dalhar Watucongol. Abuya Dimyati followed the Naqshbandiyah Qadiriyyah order. Kiai Dalhar is known as the 'punjer of the land of Java' who teaches with wisdom, spreads clairvoyance and wisdom. Kiai Dalhar is a warrior cleric, who is still a descendant of warlords during the Dipanegara era, who became the backbone of the resistance of the santri laskar during the Java War. At the Kiai Dalhar Islamic boarding school, Abuya Dimyati got a spiritual touch with the sciences of wisdom, and was ordered to teach students.

Furthermore, when he intended to recite the Koran at the Shaykh Baidlowi Lasem Islamic boarding school, Abuya Dimyati was ordered to return home. This made his spirit even more passionate, mixed with curiosity. On one occasion, Abuya Dimyati asked Shaykh Baidlowi to inherit the knowledge of tariqah. Shaykh Baidlowi replied, "Mbah Dim, the dhikr is already written in the book, as well as the prayers, please load it yourself. I can't do anything, because the tarekat is a wadhifah consisting of dhikr and shalawat". Instead of being satisfied, Abuya Dimyati was even more curious about the answer of Shaykh Baidlowi, who was considered his spiritual teacher.

Abuya Dimyati, for the umpteenth time pleaded with Shaykh Baidlowi al-Lasemi. Long story short, Shaykh Baidlowi gave advice for Abuya Dimyati to pray istikhara. The prayer was performed three times, until Abuya got inner strength and came back to Shaykh Baidlowi. Then, because of his determination and firmness of intention, Shaykh Baidlowi gave him the diploma of the as-Syadziliyyah tarekat.

Abuya Dimyati teaches the tradition of Islamic knowledge and the teachings of Ahlussunnah wal-jama'ah. It is also a reference for travelers of knowledge, seekers of the path of knowledge. His students spread across the archipelago and several countries in Southeast Asia. Banten residents pay homage to Abuya Dimyati as the "nail" of the Banten area, some refer to him as "sulthonul auliya".

While reciting the Koran, Abuya Dimyati explored Islamic boarding schools to explore the deepest meaning of wisdom and absorb knowledge. He started the Koran at the Cadasari Islamic Boarding School, Kadupeusing, Pandeglang, then to the Plamunan and Plered Islamic Boarding Schools, Cirebon. Abuya Dimyati also received wisdom from several elderly scholars, including Abuya Abdul Chalim, Abuya Muqri Abdul Chamid, Mama Achmad Bakri (Mama Sempur), Mbah Dalhar Watucongol, Mbah Nawawi Jejeran Jogjakarta, Mbah Chozin Bendo Pare, Mbah Baidlowi Lasem, Mbah Rukyat Kaliwungu and several other scholars. To the elderly kiai, Abuya Dimyati deepened the knowledge of wisdom to perfect the religious knowledge he had learned in several pesantren.

While studying at the Watucongol Islamic boarding school, which Mbah Dalhar took care of, Abuya Dimyati was asked to devote his time teaching santri. Mbah Dalhar not only gave advice and a touch of meaning-wisdom to Abuya, but also sharpened him to be ready to enter the community, develop pesantren and take care of santri. Teaching is a powerful way to learn istiqomah. In fact, before Abuya Dimyati came to Watucongol, Mbah Dalhar gave advice to his students, "tomorrow many books will come,". What is meant by 'many books' is, of course, Abuya Dimyati, who has mastered classical books on various Islamic knowledges.

Throughout his life story, Abuya Dimyati is consistent with his choice to continue preaching and istiqomah to recite the Koran. " Thariqah I want to recite the Koran !", (My way is to recite the Koran). From this principle, it can be illustrated how Abuya Dimyati sincerely and confidently continued to recite the Koran, teaching santri as his life choice. His breadth of knowledge, sincerity, and dedication made Abuya Dimyati a reference for Banten residents. Thousands of students have tasted the wisdom and blessings of knowledge from him, who is currently devoting knowledge from the teacher to preaching throughout the archipelago.

Abuya Dimyati also specializes in writing calligraphy. He teaches the art of calligraphy, with khats such as khufi, tsulust, diwani, diwani jally, naskhy and several other khats. Abuya is also known to be proficient in the science of reading the Qur'an.

Throughout his life, Abuya has written several books. Among them Minhajul Ishthifa, who described hizib Nasr and hizib Ikhfa. This book was written in the month of Rajab, 1379 H/1959 AD. In addition, he also authored the book Ashlul Badr (about friends in the battle of Badr), the book Roshnul Qadr (about hizib Nasr), Rochul Qoir I and II (also about hizib Nasr). , Bahjatul Qalaid, Nadzam Tijanud Darori, al-Hadiyyatul Jalaliyyah (about the Syadziliyyah congregation).

Shaykh Muhammad Dimyati died on 7 Sha'ban 1424 H/3 October 2003, at the age of 78 years. The great figure, the Sufi kiai, and the punjer of the Banten land passed down the knowledge of wisdom as well as examples of wisdom to his students, the successors of the Islamic da'wah of the Archipelago who brought love and peace.
