KH. Hasyim Muzadi, the Firefighter

Abah, the nickname of KH. Hashim Muzadi. The year 2010 was the beginning of my becoming his official santri and 2017 was the last year I met him. Being his student is an honor, especially if he is his son. Abah's children, must be proud to have a father of a national figure. He is admired by everyone, both nationally and internationally. To the extent that the world's nickname for him: "The Firefighter".

Since childhood, he lived and revived NU, until the end of his life he still maintained the existence of NU. Even though his brother's wish, KH. Muchith Muzadi has not been fully implemented and resides in NU. Before his brother's departure, the most heavily placed mandate on his shoulders was to entrust NU. Both of them thought that the original NU method and methodology of thinking were able to solve this nation's complicated problems.

Since hearing the news of his death, what has crossed my mind is who will replace him. The figure of Habib Rizieq who became the world's spotlight, obeyed if he received instructions from him. He left when the nation was experiencing various diseases. He is consistent in his struggle to defend his religion and state when his surroundings are busy finding fault with one another.

The Indonesian nation, of course, needs someone like him. Sincere to fight and willing to give up whatever he has. When he was sick, if the doctor allowed him to be treated in cottages and houses near his students, he chose to be with his students. Even when he was sick, he still continued to give the study of Kitab Al-Hikam with the third batch of Al-Hikam Depok. The little blood that came out did not dampen his passion for teaching his favorite students.

He always advised his students: "Don't always be GR and lazy. The two traits are immediately shunned.” The language style of the Al-Hikam book is able to be implemented properly and correctly. To the extent that the name of the pesantren is Al-Hikam, which he means "lubbu al-syai" or "core phenomenon". So that the students are able to take the essence and the implied message of each phenomenon, able to unveil the veil at the bottom of the ocean.

Since the first time I recited the Koran with him, I was really impressed by his various explanations. That is why, until now every writing I wrote, both articles and books always quote his thoughts. For me, he is a good figure and role model. A lot of speeches but he was accompanied by action. His oration made the throne vibrate, there was even a joke: "If you are tired, give the mix it will heal". So enthusiastically he gave the descriptions of what was happening.
