Obituary: Gus Mus and his love for Mrs. Nyai Fatma
When talking about love, Gus Mus always has a smile and teary eyes. This was seen when he was asked by Najwa Sihab in Mata Najwa in the episode 'Panggung Gus Mus' about the poems made by the caretaker of the Raudlatut Thalibin Islamic Boarding School.
"My love poem is only for her (wife) and for Him (pointing up) the little 'mu' is the wife and the big Mu is on top," said Gus Mus.
The poem in question is a poem written in Rembang in 1995 entitled 'Sajak Cinta'. Let's take a look at some of the stanzas of this poem:
my love for you has never been an example
romeo's love for juliet the majnun qais for laila
nothing yet
our parting meeting is more meaningful
compared to the meet-and-greet of Yusuf and Zulaikha
our longing for revenge exceeds Adam's longing for revenge
and Eve
If we look at the wording of the poetic stanzas above, it is clear how he is indeed a poet, who is able to tinker with words and choose equivalents to make good and strong sentences. More than that, the sentence also shows how deep Gus Mus' love for his wife is, so strong and touching.
We often hear the story of Shakespeare's Romeo-Juliet and we know that they too are separated by death, as is the story of Qais and Laila. Yusuf and Zulaikha also keep extraordinary coals, as well as the story of Adam-Eve separated by distance and time.
This romantic side of Gus Mus also made Mrs. Nyai Fatma fall in love. In fact, according to him, it has been done since he was young. He often does this, especially since the two of them are neighbors and have been since childhood. Fall in love because you used to meet.
"He said he's been running low since elementary school," said Mrs. Nyai Siti Fatma.
Maybe it was monkey love, but time proved otherwise. I suspect that Bu Nyai fatma is Gus Mus' first love, and vice versa. But, since he was still small, of course that couldn't happen. Mrs. Nyai Fatma also refused. Until the two of them grew up and moved to another city to study and study in a different city.
Gus Mus studied and went back to school to Cairo (Egypt). Gus Mus' struggle to get him was not easy either. From Al Azhar (Egypt) he often sent love letters to Mrs. Nyai. And, that's what made Bu Nyai finally melted. Gus Mus also married the daughter of Kiai Basyuni on September 19, 1971.
"(Father) is indeed romantic. Yesterday, on my birthday, I made a poem too,” he added.
The romance of the two is what makes us envious. Moreover, he made a simple rhyme that was so sweet. "When it was his birthday I wrote, ' Stay young with me, my wife '," said Gus Mus.
Yes, such a simple expression and full of love. Grow, mature, grow old and be young again together. This is true love. Stay young with me, my wife.
And today, Thursday (30/6) at the Rembang Hospital, the wife who was so loved by Gus Mus passed away to Rahmatullah. Of course we are all sad, but the story of the two will remain eternal just like his poem entitled White Poem for Lover (I998) like this:
I came away hoping and disappointed
But let it be
love,
Let us be together like that
Abadi.
Goodbye, Mrs. Nyai...
