Reflections on the Death of KH. Hasyim Muzadi
Reflections on the Death of KH. Hasyim Muzadi
In the Book of Tanqih Al-Qaul, Imam Al-Hafizh Jalaluddin Bin Abdurrahman Bin Abu Bakar As-Suyuthi wrote in his book a hadith of the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, as follows:
“He who does not grieve for the death of a scholar is a hypocrite, a hypocrite, a hypocrite.” He said it three times, Sampai 3x Nabi mengatakan Munafik.
Crying over the death of a scholar is a big matter in the sight of Allah. A case that will have consequences for those of us who are left behind if we are not people who always listen to their advice. Cry if it turns out that so far there has been no love in our hearts for the scholars.
From Ibn Abbas ra. about the word of Allah, "And do they not see that We indeed came to the regions, then We reduced them (bit by bit) from their edges?" (Al-Ra'd: 41). He said about (مِنْ افِهَا = from the edges) is the death of the scholars. And according to Imam Baihaqi from the hadith Ma'ruf bin Kharbudz from Abu Ja'far ra said, "The death of the ulama is more beloved to the devil than the death of 70 worshipers."
The Qur'an implicitly hints at the death of the ulama as a cause of the destruction of the world, namely the word of Allah which reads:
"And do they not see that We have indeed come to the regions, then We have reduced them (bit by bit) from their edges?" (Al-Ra'd: 41).
According to some commentators such as Ibn Abbas and Mujahid, this verse is related to the destruction of the earth (kharab ad-dunya). While the destruction of the earth in this verse is the death of scholars (Tafsir Ibnu Katsir 4/472)
Rasulullah Shallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam who affirmed the scholars as his successors, also affirmed the death of the scholars as a calamity. The Prophet said:
Meaning: “The death of a scholar is an irreplaceable disaster, and a leak that cannot be patched. The death of a scholar is like an extinguished star. The death of one tribe is easier for me than the death of one scholar” (HR al-Thabrani in Mujam al-Kabir and al-Baihaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman from Abu Darda')
The Death of Scholars Is the Loss of Knowledge Humanity can live with scholars is one of the greatest blessings while in the world. When scholars are alive, we can seek knowledge from them, learn wisdom, take role models and so on. On the other hand, when the scholar dies, then all those favors disappear. This is what the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said.
Meaning: “Take (Learn) knowledge before it goes away! The Companions asked: O Nabiyullah, how can knowledge go (lost)?" The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam replied, "The departure of knowledge is by the departure (of death) of those who bring knowledge (ulama)" (HR Ad-Darimi, At-Thabrani No. 7831 from Abu Umamah).
The death of the ulama also had a huge impact, including the emergence of new leaders who did not understand religion so that they could mislead the people, as in the authentic hadith.
_ So that when Allah does not leave one scholar, then people appoint stupid leaders, they are asked and then give fatwas without knowledge, then they go astray and lead astray "(HR al-Bukhari No 100)
Hopefully with the death of KH. Hasyim Muzadi, we all pray and hope that someone will continue his struggle. Amen!
This hope is quoted by Imam al-Ghazali from Caliph Ali bin Abi Talib:
Meaning: “If one scholar dies, then there is a hole in Islam that cannot be filled except by generations. successor” (Ihya Ulumiddin I/15).
