The Story of the Messenger of Allah Performing the Hajj (Part 2)

The Story of the Messenger of Allah Performing the Hajj

In the 10th year AH, the Prophet felt that his da'wah mission had been completed, and he realized that his life was near. Therefore the Prophet planned to perform the last pilgrimage. This is what came to be known as Haji Wada' (farewell pilgrimage).Muhammad Husain Haikal in his book Hayat Muhammad affirmed that on the 25th of Dzulkaidah in the tenth year of the Hijri, the Prophet set out with all his wives, each in his vehicle.

He left with a large number of people following him. Some historians say 90,000 people and some say 114,000 people. They set out carried by faith, their hearts full of glory, full of sincerity towards Baitullah to perform the great Hajj.

When they arrived at Dzulhulaifah, the Prophet set up a tent (tent) until late at night in the morning. The Prophet told all the pilgrims to wear ihram clothes. With this ihram clothes, they faced God with the same degree while performing talbiah followed by the Muslims behind him.

After entering the city of Mecca, the Prophet immediately headed to the Kaaba to perform the tawaf seven times, then the Prophet prayed at Ibrahim's grave. After that the Prophet came out of the Grand Mosque to do sai (half-running walk) between the hills of Safa and Marwah seven times. After the sa'i worship was carried out, the Prophet freed all pilgrims from things that were prohibited during the pilgrimage.

On the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, the Prophet left the city of Mecca to Mina and he spent the night there. After performing the Fajr prayer, the Prophet went to the land of Arafah and in this place he then delivered his sermon. There are four important messages contained in the sermon.

First , advice to always serve Allah SWT. Second , advice to respect the dignity of women (wives). Thirdly , advice for Muslims to always maintain Islamic brotherhood, and the fourth, last is to make Islam the official religion, this was expressed by the Prophet after receiving the final revelation:

"On this day I have perfected my religion for all of you and I have also perfected my favors for you and I am willing for Islam to be your religion". (Qs. Al-Maidah: 5).

After the Prophet Muhammad read the verse, namely the letter al-Maidah verse 5, the Prophet left Arafah in the afternoon and spent the night in Muzdalifah. On the next day the prophet went to Masy'aril Haram and then continued to Mina. It was here that the Prophet sacrificed 63 camels each for the 63 years of the Prophet's age, then the Prophet fulfilled his sacrifice of 100 camels.

After that the Prophet Muhammad cut some of his hair which marks the completion of the pilgrimage. In carrying out this wada pilgrimage, the prophet explained practically how Muslims carry out their obligations in the pilgrimage.
