The Story of Prophet Muhammad's Patience
This is a story that illustrates the high level of patience shown by the Prophet Muhammad. succeeded in making a Jewish priest convert to Islam. This story was narrated by Ath-Thabrani from Abdullah bin Salam ra
One day, when the Prophet saw. out of the house with Ali bin Abu Talib ra, suddenly he saw. the arrival of someone whose face looks like a Bedouin riding a camel. The person said, "O Messenger of Allah, in my village in Bani Fulan there are some people who have converted to Islam. I am the one who preached to them so that they convert to Islam.
Previously their wealth was very abundant, but now they are being hit by drought and food shortages. O Messenger of Allah, I am afraid that they might leave Islam because of their greed for wealth. If you are willing to help ease his suffering, I am ready to carry out whatever orders you want."
Zaid bin Sa'nah also approached the Messenger of God. while saying, "O Muhammad, are you willing to owe dates according to the amount you want, which are now still in the garden of Bani Fulan with the payment tempo according to the agreement?"
He, peace be upon him. said, "But you must not mention the garden of Bani Fulan."
"Okay," replied Zaid bin Sa'nah.
When the Messenger of God agreed, then Zaid bin Sa'nah took out his bags, then he gave them to the Messenger of God. eight measures of dates to be paid as agreed. He, peace be upon him. told the Bedouins, "Be fair to them and help them."
After the due date was less than two or three days away, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. went out of the house with Abu Bakar, Umar and Utsman and some other friends to pray for the corpse. After finishing praying for the body, when the Messenger of God, peace be upon him. Leaning against the wall, Zaid bin Sa'nah pulled his robe. while looking at him. by showing his anger while saying, "O Muhammad, will you not fulfill my rights? For God's sake, you all must have known that Abdul Muthallib's family really liked to procrastinate on debt payments. We already know, because we are used to hanging out with you."
Then Zaid bin Sa'nah saw Umar's round eyes turn red. Umar looked at Zaid angrily. The Prophet then said, "O Umar, he and I have agreed that we need a good way to solve it. You should have told me to pay off my debt to him immediately and told him to warn me. O Umar, fulfill his right and increase his payment by twenty ikats in lieu of his fear of your anger."
Then Umar went with Zaid and carried out what the Prophet had ordered. to him. Zaid bin Sa'nah asked Umar, "O Umar, why should there be an additional twenty bonds?" Umar replied, "Rasulullah saw. has ordered me to give an additional twenty bonds in exchange for what I did to you earlier."
Zaid asked again, "O Umar, do you know who I am?" "No", answered Umar. Zaid replied, "I am Zaid bin Sa'nah".
Then Umar instead asked, "Are you a Jewish priest?" "True", replied Zaid.
"Then what caused you to do that to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him?", Umar asked again. Zaid said again, "O Umar, I can recognize the signs of prophethood when I look at the face of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, except for two things that I have never known before, namely his patience, peace and blessings be upon him. when angry and at the time of his death. should be angry but rather patient.
Now I know both. I testify before you, O Umar, that I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion and Muhammad as the prophet and messenger of Allah swt. I also swear to you that half of what I have, most of which is still in the form of money, I will give as charity for Muhammad's people. ."
Finally, Umar brought Zaid bin Sa'nah back to meet the Messenger of God. and uttering the shahadat sentence in front of him, peace be upon him, he also declared his allegiance. After that, Zaid bin Sa'nah was involved in many important events with the Messenger of God. to martyrdom in the Tabuk war.
