The Story of the Prophet Performing the Hajj (Part 1)
The Story of the Prophet Performing the Hajj
The history of the Kaaba cannot be separated from the Prophet Ibrahim. Even identical to him and his son, Ismail. They are the ones who get a direct mandate from Allah to build the Kaaba. After they built the Kaaba and received the first call for the implementation of the pilgrimage addressed to Prophet Ibrahim AS and his people by going around the Kaaba and carrying out a series of worship there. However, this noble function was tarnished by the pre-Islamic generation by making it a place of idol worship.
It was the custom of the Arabs at that time to worship idols except for a small number of Jews and Christians. Apart from worshiping idols, some of them also worship the sun, stars and wind, sometimes they even worship small stones and trees. They do not believe in God Almighty, in each region there are many goddesses. Al-Uzza, al-Latta, Manah and Hubal were their biggest and most exalted idols.
So after the Prophet Muhammad was appointed as an apostle, he brought major changes to the function of the Ka'bah as Baitullah (house of Allah). Because the Arabs at the time of Jahiliyah had made the Kaaba a place of idols which they considered as God who could help them. The mission of the Prophet Muhammad towards the Ka'bah was to restore the Ka'bah as the purpose of its construction as pioneered by Prophet Ibrahim As and Ismail As, namely to make the Ka'bah the center of worship for Muslims.
Despite the challenges and obstacles from various parties who hate Islam and with Allah's permission in the 8th century H the Muslims won victory from the Quraysh infidels known as Fathu Makkah. The Muslims also threw away all the idols that hung around the Kaaba and performed the tawaf seven times as gratitude to Allah SWT who had given victory to the Muslims.
The conquest of the city of Mecca was the opening of a new history of Islam in which Islam automatically controlled politics as well as raised the position and position of the Prophet Muhammad as the highest ruler in this peninsula. The Prophet's victory over Mecca became a symbol of the victory of truth and the eradication of falsehood in Mecca.
So in the 9th year AH, the Prophet appointed Abu Bakr as Amirul Hajj accompanying the Muslims to perform the pilgrimage. The Prophet at that time did not participate in the pilgrimage because he was still bound by the Hudaybiyah agreement which prohibited the Prophet from entering Mecca.
