The Tale of Faithful People Who Are Patient With Pain

The companion of Husayn ibn Imran was one of the companions of the Prophet who was sick for 30 years. After being sick for a long time, he was given healing by Allah Ta'ala.

But unfortunately, in his recovery he felt something was missing. The angel who usually visited him, came to visit him, now turned out to never come. Finally he prayed to Allah, he asked to be given pain again by Allah Ta'ala.

After he suffered from illness and was able to guard his heart with pleasure and sincerity and patience along with a firm belief that everything he received was from Allah alone, the angels came again.

Just as Husayn ibn Imran was good at guarding his conscience, so was Rabi'ah Al Adawiyah.

One time Rabiah stumbled and her feet were bleeding, but instead she smiled and was grateful, praising Allah SWT. Then someone asked this female guardian

"Why, you're tripping and bleeding, why are you smiling?"

Answered "Yes, this is from my lover"

This is similar to the analogy of a young man being pinched by his girlfriend. The pinch that was supposed to hurt, but because what he saw was who was pinching, then it didn't hurt, but it was nice to see who was pinching, not feeling how painful the pinch was.
