Umar bin Khattab, Heaven and the Story of a Bird

Umar bin Khattab, Heaven and the Story of a Bird

After Sayyidina Umar died, there was one who dreamed of meeting him. He asked "O Umar, what did Allah do to you?"

Umar replied, "Allah has forgiven me."

"Is it because of your justice?"

"No!"

Whereas as we know, Umar's friend was a caliph who was firmly principled and fair in making decisions.

But it turns out that he entered heaven not because of his deeds. But he actually confessed, "(I entered heaven) because of a bird."

At that time there was a bird that was made as a child's toy. Feeling pity, Umar's friend then bought a bird from the little boy, after it was bought, the bird was released.

The story above fits perfectly with a hadith narrated in the Book of Sunan At-Tirmidhi:

 الرَّاحِمُونَ يَرْحَمُهُمْ الرَّحْمَنُ ارْحَمُوا مَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَرْحَمْكُمْ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ

Merciful people will be loved by a merciful God. So have mercy on the inhabitants of the earth, surely you will be loved by the inhabitants of the heavens.
