Why Does Time Feel So Fast?
Why Does Time Feel So Fast?
In everyday life, we often feel that time goes by so fast. It feels like just yesterday that 2014, now 2015 has come to pick us up. Similarly, the turn of the month, the transition from January to February is very imperceptible. Moreover, the change of day to day, one day feels like an hour. Phenomena like this are among the signs of the apocalypse. Many hadiths inform this fact as signs of the apocalypse. Among these hadiths is the history of Abu Hurairah who heard the Prophet SAW say:
"Doomsday will not happen until knowledge is taken away, earthquakes often occur, and time feels fast" (HR: al-Bukhari)
In another hadith narrated by Ahmad it is stated:
" From Abu Hurairah, the Prophet SAW said: The Hour will not occur until time seems to pass so quickly. A year is like a month, a month is like a week, a week is like a day, and a day is like an hour, and an hour is like the blink of an eye.” (HR: Ahmad)
Ibn Hajar explained that what is meant by the above hadith is the loss of the blessings of life. So, the day just goes by without any benefit. The treasures obtained are useless, they just run out. Likewise children, people say many children are a lot of fortune. But what happened was the opposite. Many have children, but their children have no influence in society. Sometimes the children who are born actually make the community restless.
Abu Anas Sadiq in his book al-Fitan wa Asyrat al-Sa'ah, the cause of the loss of happiness is because many people commit immorality. Their faith is weak, they eat a lot of unlawful wealth. Corruption and theft of other people's rights are everywhere. They provide for their families with illicit wealth. As a result, their family life is not blessed. Even though they are very rich. However, their life is not peaceful and serene.
In the Qur'an, Allah SWT has explained that the blessings of life are closely related to one's faith and deeds. People who live their lives with faith and good deeds, surely Allah will send down to them blessings, whether they arise from the heavens or the earth. On the other hand, people who like to commit immorality, Allah will close the door of blessing for them. This is as implied in the word of Allah Surah al-A'raf verse 96:
"If the inhabitants of the lands had believed and were pious, We would surely have bestowed upon them blessings from the heavens and the earth, but they denied it (Our verses), then We will punish them for their deeds." (Surat al-A'raf: 96)
Some say advances in technology and information are the cause of the change in time feels so fast. Now, between one country and another, there is no longer any limit. America, which is geographically so far from Indonesia, can be reached in just a few hours. Likewise, communication between countries, we can talk to people who are in other areas without having to visit their homes. All this thanks to advances in technology, communication tools, and transformation.
This opinion is recognized by the Muslim scholar Andan Oktar, who is better known as Harun Yahya. In an interview on a television station, he revealed that technological advances greatly affect the rapid change of time. A trip that used to last several months can now be done in just a few hours. Communication that takes months, weeks to reach across regions, countries, and continents, can now be done in minutes, even seconds, through internet facilities and other communication tools. Moreover, daily tasks like cleaning, cooking, child care and shopping no longer require a lot of time with the help of technology.
According to Harun Yahya, in the space between the earth and the conductive ionosphere there is a natural vibration, which is called the Schumann resonance. This frequency is known as the global heart rate. The Schumann resonance is very important because it envelops the earth and continues to preserve nature. All forms of life are under its influence. These vibrations are continuously measured by the world's leading physics research centers. In 1950, the Schumann resonance was measured on the 7.8 hertz scale. This value is considered to remain constant. However, in 1980 there was a sudden change, the Schumann resonance measured above 11 hertz. Recent reports reveal that this figure will continue to rise again.
This change in the Schumann resonance greatly affects the acceleration of time. Thus, 24 hours feels like 12 hours or less. Although science can measure the speed of the Schumann resonance, experts cannot explain what factors cause these vibrations to continue to increase and increase.
