Welcoming the Head of the Month in the Islamic Calendar
Welcoming the Head of the Month in the Islamic Calendar
The month of Ramadan is just around the corner. This ninth month in the Hijri calendar has an important meaning for Muslims. In this month there are more religious activities of Muslims, such as fasting, tarawih prayers, worship at night, commemorating the revelation of the Al-Quran, paying zakat fitrah, reading more verses of the holy Al-Quran.
Ramadan itself can be called the head of the month. The word Ramadan comes from the Arabic root ramiḍa or ar-ramaḍ, which means scorching heat or dryness. There are also those who call Ramadan its derivation from the word "ra-ma-dha" which means scorching heat, hot stone, heat caused by sunlight. As for Ramadan, which has a derivation from "ra-mi-dha" it means clouds, rain at the end of summer and the beginning of autumn which keeps away the heat of summer. On that basis, this month is called the month of Ramadan because it washes the human body from sins.
It is narrated that Ramadan is one of the "Beautiful Names of Allah" Anas Bin Malik narrated from the Prophet Muhammad. that "Do not call (the holy month) only "Ramadan". As Allah (swt) said "syahr-i Ramadhan (month of Ramadan) , you also say so. (Narrated by Bukhari). Scholars also say that "Ramadan" is one of the names of Allah (swt). So this month should be called as “Shahr -i Ramadhan” or the month of Ramadan
In an article on the www.islamquest.net page, Ramadan in relation to the name Allah swt means muthahhir and purifier of sins. This implicative meaning (lâzim) is the lexical meaning of the word Ramadhan; meaning that the implication of the scorching heat of the sun or rain at the end of summer is purification and holiness. Therefore, the meaning of Ramadan as one of the names of Allah SWT is that Allah SWT is muthahhir and purifies humans from the stains of sin. In Tâj al-'Arûs min Jawâhir al-Qâmus by Muhibuddin Muhammad Murtadha Wasiti Zubaidi, it is stated, "Ramadan - if it is true - is one of the names of Allah swt not musytak as mentioned then he refers to the meaning of al-ghafir, which is removing sins. sin and remove it."
For that, let us fill the month of Ramadan by multiplying the deeds of worship so that we can erase sins. Marhaban Ya Ramadan
